Back on April 8th, the Oakland Raiders signed wide receiver De’Mornay Pierson-El, only to release him a few weeks later. Now, he’s back.
Here’s the official press release from the team:
Pierson-El is entering into an extremely competitive situation at the wide receiver position, so his best chance at a roster spot would likely be as a return specialist. Back in 2014, during his Freshman season at the University of Nebraska, he averaged 17.5 yards per punt return with three touchdowns.

Even in that role, Pierson-El will be facing an uphill battle, as veteran Dwayne Harris was re-signed earlier in the offseason. Harris is a high-IQ, dependable returner that still brings some juice, and let’s not forget about that 99-yard touchdown on Christmas Eve.
Nonetheless, the former Cornhusker will get a shot to compete at training camp and possibly make a name for himself on HBO’s “Hard Knocks”.
