Raiders “Seem Confident” They Can Reach A Deal With Marquette King

The Raiders want to bring back Marquette King in 2016 and CSN Bay Area’s Scott Bair believes the Raiders are “confident” they can reach a long-term deal with punter Marquette King before the start of free agency.

King was one of the league’s underrated punters in 2015. Although his 44.5 yards per punt don’t jump out on paper, the Raiders’ fourth-year punter finished ninth in the league in NET average (40.7) and was second in the league in punts inside the 20 (40). The Rams’ Johnny Hekker led the league in punts inside the 20 (41), but attempted 13 more punts on the season.

If Raiders’ GM Reggie McKenzie can’t reach a long term deal with King, the franchise tag would be an option at a cost of $4.53 million.
