Antonio Pierce wasn’t happy about the way the Raiders played on Sunday, and he seemed to imply after the game that some of his players didn’t play hard when the game was out of reach.
In the postgame press conference after the Raiders embarrassing 36-22 loss to the Panthers, Pierce was asked if his team showed up for the game and he offered a pointed response directed at players that he didn’t mention by name.
“No, they didn’t,” Pierce said. “I think as the game went on… I don’t think it was the team… I think there was definitely some individuals that made business decisions, and we’ll make business decisions going forward, as well.”
Pierce didn’t mention any players specifically, but it shouldn’t be hard to figure out who he was talking about.
Presumably, there will be players that don’t see the field as much when the Raiders host the Browns at Allegiant Stadium in week 4.
From the standpoint of the coaching staff, it could be hard to figure out who was playing hard and who wasn’t. From the outside, it didn’t look like anyone on the roster showed up to play against the Panthers.
Looking back, it’s hard to believe Sunday’s team was the same group of players that rolled into Baltimore and upset the Ravens on their home field a week ago.

We got our asses whooped by a bottom feeding team. The Panthers are team we would have expected to be lucky to be eating off of our table scraps not sitting at the head table with the grown-ups. That’s the problem. Antonio Pierce is the problem. He’s not a head coach. He’s a guy who is able to rally a team who hated Josh McDaniels. For short term success, but definitely not for long-term. Mark Davis missed his opportunity to grab a real head coach this off-season when Harbaugh went to the Chargers. Again, Mark Davis doesn’t know what the hell he’s doing. We’re in for another 20 years of misery, before we rinse and repeat again.
Time to kick people ***
New coach. New starting QB. New players. New defense. New Year. “New attitude.”
….Same old f’ing Raiders.
The defense was a major disappointment start there.
Is a business decision the same as a cowardly decision to not tackle.
