Raiders Insider Responds to Rumors Around Christian Wilkins’ Foot Injury

Based on reports around the foot injury that ended Christian Wilkins’ 2024 season, there was some kind of setback that led to the Raiders’ star defensive tackle wearing a boot at some point in the last two months.

Nothing has been reported on the nature of setback (assuming that isn’t too strong of a description), but several beat writers covering the team have downplayed the concern within the Raiders’ organization.

The latest insider to speak on Wilkins’ injury was Sports Illustrated’s Hondo Carpenter, who reinterated again on Tuesday that every piece of information coming out of the building has indicated that Wilkins is expected to be at full strength going into the 2025 season.

“Every person I have spoken to who would be completely knowledgeable about the situation has made it clear to me they expect him tip top ready to go by the start of the season,” Carpenter said on the Las Vegas Raiders Insider podcast.

”Not one person I have spoken to at this point, as of this morning, is concerned that it’s going to affect his ability to play in 2025.”

The team may have motive to downplay Wilkins’ injury, but with it only being the first week of May, it’s possible the team is just approaching his situation with caution considering he is essentially tied to the team for another two years.

Should it ever become a talking point, the Raiders don’t have a lot of wiggle room on Wilkins’ contract for another two years.

According to OverTheCap, the Raiders won’t have an opportunity to unload the veteran defensive tackle’s contract without a significant dead money hit until after the 2026 season.

  1. Garbage beyond belief. Maybe another 100 millineals can come out of the woodwork to be instantly gratified anylists.

  2. Hope it’s not a big deal but if he’s been in a boot this far from the procedure that is not a normal thing. It has been and will continue to be a terrible free agent pickup unless he suddenly becomes Chris Jones. Good luck on that!
