The night of Jack Del Rio’s second interview with the Raiders ended quietly and without a deal. After meeting for over four hours, it appears GM Reggie McKenzie and owner Mark Davis are still trying to sort things out. According to several reports, Davis and McKenzie aren’t yet in agreement on the best way to go.
I was also told that their process wasn’t necessarily out of the ordinary – simply a tough decision that both sides want to get right. One factor, according to the San Francisco Chronicle’s Vic Tafur, is Davis’ willingness to stay with Dennis Allen as long as he did – the “continuity” didn’t translate to improvement.
The evening ended with questions still to be answered and Sparano still under the interim label – for now. One question that was answered? What to do after an evening of exhausting interviews… you go to Hooters, of course.
That’s Marcel Reece and former Raider (father of current Raider) George Atkinson. Wonder which coach those two are endorsing?
