Raiders Linked to “Insane” New Document Uncovered in Brian Flores’ Lawsuit against the NFL

The Raiders have been through a few public relations nightmares in the last few decades and based on a report this week from league insider Daniel Kaplan and NBC host Mike Florio, there could be another complicated legal situation on the horizon for the Silver & Black.

According to Kaplan, there is a new document in possession of Brian Flores’ legal team in their lawsuit against the NFL for alleged systemic racial discrimination and unfair hiring practices, and the document apparently involves the Raiders.

Kaplan reported on Monday that the latest discrimination claim involves the search firm Korn Ferry, who the Raiders and other NFL teams have used in head-coaching searches over the years.

In this case, it sounds like Flores’ lawyers uncovered something in the documents they were permitted access to during the discovery process of their lawsuit against the league.

From Kaplan on his Substack platform

“Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores wants to add a new discrimination claim to his longstanding lawsuit against the NFL and six of its teams. The move is tied to a dispute between executive search firm Korn Ferry and the plaintiffs over if a one page document obtained in third party discovery should remain sealed. It is what is in that document that led Flores to ask the New York federal court to add a new allegation to his complaint.

What the new allegation is, and what is in that Korn Ferry document, is non-public information, at least at the moment. In a letter to the magistrate judge handling discovery in the case, however, Korn Ferry described the subject of the document as a head coach search the recruitment firm did for the Las Vegas Raiders.

Korn Ferry is specifically requesting that Exhibit A remain under seal,’ the company’s lawyers wrote the magistrate judge in a letter dated August 12. ‘Exhibit A references a confidential candidate search and was prepared by Korn Ferry in connection with a confidential search engagement with its client, the Las Vegas Raiders.

The Raiders conducted head coach searches at the end of the 2024 season and again at the end of the 2025 season. Public reports in early 2025 said the Raiders hired Korn Ferry to assist in the hiring of a head coach and a general manager.”

The report didn’t specify which Raiders’ coaching search the claim involves, but it was well publicized that Korn Ferry was involved in the coaching searches that brought Pete Carroll and Klint Kubiak to Las Vegas.

Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio commented on Kaplan’s report on Monday and said a source with knowledge of the evidence described the contents within the document to him as “insane.”

Similar to Jon Gruden’s case against the NFL, it could be years before evidence is released to the public in the Flores lawsuit, and based on the way it sounds right now, the Raiders will be content to keep it that way.
