The Raiders’ coaching search is nearing an end and the expectation of most is that Seattle offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak will end up getting the job.
At the very least, Kubiak appears to be the Raiders’ first choice, and the sides are expected to meet on Saturday for a second interview.
For the past few days, Kubiak’s top competition in Las Vegas has been Denver passing game coordinator/QB coach Davis Webb, but on Thursday it was reported that Webb was removing his name from consideration for the Raiders’ job.
With Webb out of the mix, Kubiak’s odds of getting the job go up even more, but according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, there is still another candidate in Las Vegas that hasn’t been eliminated.
Carolina defensive coordinator Ejiro Eviro made a strong impression on the Raiders and was one of the few candidates who was offered a second interview.
The timing of Fowler’s news probably isn’t coincidence as the Raiders need some leverage with Kubiak when/if the time comes to negotiate a contract.
It might be that Eviro is a viable candidate, but it’s hard not to believe his name was thrown into the news on Thursday afternoon so Kubiak’s agent gets the message that he can’t assume the Raiders are willing to pay a king’s ransom to bring Kubiak to Vegas… even if the Raiders probably are willing to pay a king’s ransom to bring Kubiak to Vegas.
After missing on Ben Johnson a year ago, the fan base wants to see Tom Brady hire his top choice this year and there is a little doubt at this point who that is.
On a related note, everyone understands Kubiak is busy this week getting ready for the Super Bowl, but it’s worth noting that his agent is not getting ready for a football game in 10 days.
The Raiders will meet with Kubiak on Saturday, but there is no reason that contract details and other matters can’t be hashed out between the team and Kubiak’s agent over the next 48 hours.
Additionally, there is no reason Kubiak can’t back out of any verbal agreements he makes with the Raiders or anyone else in the next 10 days.
Flagship host ‘JT the Brick’ brought up that scenario on his radio show this week.
“I’ve been leaning towards Kubiak the whole time. I think Kubiak is the guy, and he’s not flamboyant, and he’s probably not going to blow away anybody in an interview from what I’ve heard about his persona. But you saw the way he called that game in Seattle and some of the decisions that were made from an offensive perspective,” JT said on his Raider Nation Radio show on Monday.
And most Raider Nation thinks that Klint Kubiak probably could be the right call, but you got to wait till after the Super Bowl and that’s a risk. I’ve been talking about that here for a couple of weeks, and I think we’ve owned that topic as good as anybody. Risk reward. And I framed all the different risks and rewards that you can have in life. If you want to wait for something, you want to wait for your dream sweetheart, you better make sure they don’t leave you at the altar.”

EJIRO EVERO?!!!!
ROFL BRADY AND SPYTEK. THE TWO STOOGES. AT WORK AGAIN. BLEW YOUR CHAMCE WITH WEBB LOLE YOU DID WITH BEN JOHNSON LAST YEAR AND NOW YOU’RE GOING TO BE LEFT WITH THIS SEASON’S VERSION OF PETE CARROLL IN THIS CLOWN, EVERO.
CAN ANYOME IMAGINE THIS CLOWN TRYIJG TO DEVELOP MENDOZA?!!!!!
PLEASE BRADY AND SPYTEK, THE BOTH OF YOU TAKE A LONG WALK OFF A SHORT CLIFF.
Now I agree Brady isn’t the leader the Raiders need nor want. Mark is a moron for allowing him into the Nation.
On to Evero. I don’t exactly think one of the better DC in the league is a clown. I wanted him or Flores as DC. Missing out on Webb isn’t a big deal. He was this years Josh McCown. He’s not Ben Johnson, nobody is except for Ben Johnson. There wasn’t a Ben Johnson this year. Klint Kubiak is the best OC that’s not a HC. The biggest problem he will have in Vegas is he won’t have Seattle’s defense to get the ball back unless they are able to getJim Schwartz. Kubiak is a Shanahan system guy which is better than a Sean Payton system. Everyone can run a slant in their offense.
KUBIAK IS NOT COMING HERE. SPYTEK AND BRADY ARE IDIOTS.
If he does come here, do you promise to stop posting in all caps? Seriously dude, what is wrong with you? You are, without a doubt, the most hyperbolic, sky is falling, negative poster I’ve ever read.
Is there any reason for a Raiders to be optimistic given the last 20+ seasons?
Point taken, but how about you wait till they actually screw up (again) before you go off the rails. This preemptive ranting makes you look irrational.
What did I tell you? Don’t get hysterical until there is something to get hysterical about.
Your comments are not aging well, Don’t you feel silly now?
Ejiro Evero to develop Fernanado Mendoza!!!!!!!!!!!
🤣 😂 🤣 😂 🤣 😂 🤣 😂 🤣 😂 🤣 😂 🤣 😂 🤣
SPYTEK AND BRADY ARE A SH**SHOW.
I feel sorry for Mendoza.
The Raiders need, in addition to a competent offensive line, competent veteran quarterback depth, namely mobile Malik Willis as the starter, who would cost much less than and, is younger than Lamar Jackson and is on the rise. Seek out a trade for mobile, battle tested and cerebral Joshua Dobbs, from the Patriots, as the backup and then draft Fernando Mendoza, on a rookie contract. That way Mendoza won’t be under pressure to start immediately and can do what Aaron Rodgers and Jordan Love did, sit for three years and learn. That’s how you add competent depth at this position. Thereby, by the time Mendoza is ready to start, hopefully, the Raiders will have built up the team in other areas. Additionally, go get Philiph Rivers to mentor all three quarterbacks. In my opinion, there is NO better person to mentor young quarterbacks than Rivers.
Also, it wouldn’t hurt to address the (not so) Special teams. The offensive line and Special Teams coaches could use a serious upgrade. Look at how Seattle has revamped it’s special team. Systemic, systematic rebuilding is the road to return to respectability. What everyone can agree on is the past few attempts at short term fixes have not produced effective results. It seems that we are stuck with the guys who call themselves “Raiders Management,” so let’s see how they, this year, address last year’s “team” and debacle that they put on the field.
Kolton Miller, Stone Forsythe, Zamir White, Dillon Laube, Tyree Wilson, Alex Cappa, Kenny Pickett, Geno Smith and lead footed, immobile Adian O’Connell all need to be let go. Their contracts could be used on inexpensive youthful players with tremendous upsides and, to a lesser degree, injury histories. Additionally, get a couple of fullbacks who are tight end body types and USE them on third and short instead of putting additional pressure on Ashton Genty. That’s called being innovative and pragmatic. The Ravens “sometimes” use Derrick Henry as a battering ram on third and short. At the very least, the Raiders should consider, if not incorporate, this tactic.
