Raiders Should Consider a Profound Approach With Derek Carr As They Prepare for the COVID-Depleted Colts

With the news breaking on Tuesday that the Colts have placed Carson Wentz on the Reserve/COVID-19 list, the playoffs are starting to turn into survival of the fittest.

Every team in the league is dealing with COVID-19 in the locker room right now and for the Colts, it means they will probably be without their starting quarterback for one of the most important games of the year.

As for the Raiders, Marcus Mariota is already on the Reserve/COVID-19 list and that means the health of Derek Carr has never mattered more. Losing Carr to the NFL’s COVID-19 protocol before Sunday’s game in Indianapolis would be devastating, but it’s entirely possible considering how widespread the virus is at the moment.

For that reason, the Raiders should consider taking an unprecedented action this week as they prepare for the Colts…

They should ban Carr from the building through the end of the week. Let him stay home and prepare remotely.

The worst thing that can happen to the Raiders this week is losing Carr for Sunday’s game – especially with Mariota’s status being uncertain. Just having Carr in the lineup against the COVID-depleted Colts should give the Raiders the advantage on Sunday.

If Carr and Matiora aren’t able to play this week, the Raiders are toast.

Why risk that happening if it isn’t necessary?

  1. he,s vaccinated no worries so not problem, the whole team is, so not to worry, new protocol says neg. test they can play, but might be ok with me, give carr first snap, let mariota get in stretch his knees out, if game gets or stays close let carr back in for quick 2min run, mariota needs to get airtime fir scouts to decide his value, and for him to decide if he wants a trade, I say keep him, and use him, but remember there are many openings for a proven NFL qb today, the draft rookies are dime dozen only one Murray and Mchomes coming a yr. and thats pushing envelope…I don’t see a wildcat qb lasting very long, they never do. so finding one fir five..six yr contract …tough to sign that check

    1. Raiders need to win the game. Giving airtime to Mariota to impress scouts? This isn’t preseason. Come on, man.

  2. I think they should let my boy Derek Carr stay at the house so we can win that game Sunday

    1. Carr is a good quarterback.
If he a had a better line in front of him. He would be GREAT!
That’s how you fix this team.

  3. The comments are hilarious. If the Raiders get to the playoffs some of these Carr Haters heads will explode. Maybe some of y’all should be Broncos fans….in fact some of ya probably are.
