Raiders Still Not Expected to Request Coaching Interviews Until After The Regular Season

The Raiders are free to request interviews with potential head-coaching candidates, but they are not expected to do so until after the regular season.

We know the Jacksonville Jaguars have officially begun their search, but according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Raiders are focused on making the playoffs and for now, that seems to be the organizational priority.

Jeremy Fowler on Twitter: “The expectation as of now is the Raiders would not request any interviews with potential head-coaching candidates until after the regular season. Las Vegas in a different spot than Jacksonville, in playoff contention. / Twitter”

The expectation as of now is the Raiders would not request any interviews with potential head-coaching candidates until after the regular season. Las Vegas in a different spot than Jacksonville, in playoff contention.

One thing we know about Raiders’ owner Mark Davis is that he tends to operate in secrecy. More than likely he has done a good amount of research on potential candidates, but there also seems to be an increasing chance that the Raiders will stick with their current coaching staff – especially if they make the playoffs.

It was almost a foregone conclusion two weeks ago that interim head coach Rich Bisaccia would be let go after the season, but the Raiders keep squeaking out victories and the playoffs are now well within reach.

One candidate that the Raiders are rumored to be interested in is Tampa Bay defensive coordinator Todd Bowles, but if the Raiders close out the year with two more victories it would make sense that Bisaccia would have the inside track at getting the job.

Of course, this is the Raiders and the unexpected should always be expected.

What that means is when the dust settles, we should probably keep an eye out for “Lance” Kiffin to get the job.

  1. And this is why we lose everybody good will have interviewed and pretty much know where they are going we will have the worst of the litter left smh. Ownership is one of our biggest problems he makes dumb decisions like BISSACCIA as interem head coach

  2. Sorry another Kiffin (Lance), is not the answer for the head coaching job. I would hire a head
coach that is experienced in all phases of football. That has organized both the administrative side, and the athletic performance side. Someone who has carried out these functions in positions of the magnitude of the Raiders organization. Although there may not be many having experience with the administrative and athletic performance sides It is time
the Raiders do a in-depth search. The popular big names would not be available if they were the answer.

  3. Whoever mentioned Lance Kiffin is a hater and didn’t have the balls to sign his ridiculous post! If Bisaccia wins out and we go to the playoffs he deserves another year! We keep cleaning house and we don’t sniff the playoffs for another half decade at least! Is that what you want?
