One of the weekly talking points around the Raiders for the remainder of the season will be the job status of interim coach Rich Bisaccia.
The Raiders are undefeated (2-0) since Bisaccia replaced Jon Gruden and there is some momentum in the building to keep Bisaccia in his new role as head coach.
“Let me tell you, the players want Rich [Bisaccia],” Carpenter said Monday on Raider Nation Radio’s Morning Tailgate with Clay Baker. “These players want him. The guys, like Gus Bradley, likes coaching with him. Greg Olson likes being with him.”
It was clear after the Raiders’ win over the Eagles that Bisaccia has Derek Carr’s endorsement to be the team’s coach of the future, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise to hear similar sentiment coming from media sources.
Carpenter also alluded to the idea that the players and coaches have a common interest in fighting for Bisaccia’s job. The Raiders’ coaching staff might have a little added pressure considering a new head coach in 2022 would presumably bring a new staff to Las Vegas.
If the Raiders keep winning, the decision to keep Bisaccia will be an easy one. He will have navigated the departure of Gruden and now the catastrophic car accident that killed at least one person and may cost Henry Ruggs his NFL career.
If Bisaccia can get the Raiders through the weeks ahead and keep a winning record, he deserves to keep his job title… and probably a collection of coaching awards, too.

“May cost Henry Ruggs his career”? His career is over,1 day he will an example of how money and fame can make a person think that they are above the law,and ultimately how thinking like that doesn’t just affect you, but that you could ultimately destroy the lives of complete strangers with your actions
It has nothing to do with fame and being above the law, it has everything to do with liquor, and DUI
I definitely don’t envy Bisaccia right now! He has been thrust into some pretty difficult circumstances that really have nothing to do with the game of football! If he can navigate his way through this latest situation with Ruggs and keep the players focused on football rather than the outside noise and also win games, he sure as heck deserves to be the head coach of the Raiders going into 2022 and beyond! Davis needs to keep the continuity in the on field staff! Right now the Raiders as an organization are reeling and look bad to people outside of the organization! It would behoove Davis to at least keep the players and coaches around to show a united front!
one sure way to keep Rich: win the division
He’s a good man. Has his head on straight. Speaks in a reliable way and trusted by the staff and especially the players
He’s definitely earning his paycheck. Doing a great job. If he stays on I won’t mind. He seems to know how to coach.
Good coach he love his team ( players). Everyone wants to play for him. The team takes on his personality. I think nothing is going to change with this team over this incident. He deserves to be the coach full time
If you really want to evaluate his coaching, people skills, and fortitude…Hire Kaepernick on your QB Bench…. If he can survive that distraction and continue to improve the win record…You then have a keeper.
Why do the Raiders as an organization look bad to the outside Sal? Just because of the actions of two idiot’s? I think it only speaks of the two men & their foolishness, not an entire organization!
I think Rich has been overlooked for quite some time and should of been given an opportunity by other organizations in the past .He definitely deserves the title of Head coach for this team now and in 2022.Go Raiders! And my prayers go out to the family and friends of the victim of the accident and praying for Ruggs too .
Karma for Mark Davis hiring Jon Gruden and then giving him the reins to do what ever reckless form of disassembling a pretty good NFL team that Jack DeiRio put together . Why would you ever trade 1 of the top two pass rushers in Kalil Mack? Especially when you don’t know how to draft?. Now the Raiders let Peterman go. That was Grudens Peterman, mind you..Not much to show for a team that tasted the playoffs, just moments before Chucky showed up. Let’s not forget about our star receiver he shipped to Dallas like a fart in the night. Not forgetting letting Latavious Murry go . What about Jarrod Cook? Nelson Agular? What about the complete destruction of what was about the best offensive line in the NFL?. Now it sounds like Mr. Genius? ( not!!) (-jon Gruden settled with the owner Mark Davis complety fucking himself and the fans the bittersweet enjoyment of suing the N.F.L. I’m sorry but that’s just srupid
So far so good with Bisaccia, but too soon for a final decision at this point. Let’s focus on the immediate, and beat the New York Giants.
