Report: Raiders Still Trying to Move Up for One of the Draft’s Top Quarterbacks, Presumably Jayden Daniels

The reports of the Raiders interest in Heisman-winning quarterback Jayden Daniels have not been greatly exaggerated.

According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the Raiders have been aggressive in their pursuit of the no. 2 pick even after the Washington Commanders made it clear they didn’t want to trade the pick.

“The Raiders are among the teams who tested the #Commanders on moving out of 2, even after Washington GM Adam Peters told the media the team planned to stick and pick,” Garafolo posted on X on Tuesday.

It’s worth noting that there have been rumors that Daniels doesn’t want to play for the Commanders, so it’s possible, albeit unlikely, that he could fall to the Patriots at pick 3.

In that scenario it sounds like the Raiders might be able get a little traction in their efforts to make a blockbuster trade for Daniels. The Patriots have made it clear that they will listen to trade offers, but the belief is that they want four first-round picks in return for pick 3.

For what it’s worth, there is another explanation for why the Raiders might want it out there that they’re trying hard to trade for the no. 2 pick.

Understanding some of the new dynamics in the building, come up with your own theories on what that might be.

  1. They need to build the offensive line, they will be ok with Minschew and O’Connell and they have Anthony brown stashed on practice team. Team has to learn new offense, get all the offensive lineman and a running back. Couple players for defense. We will get udfa’s and cut downs from other teams. Not worth mortgaging the future. Think how Piece got them to play??? We will be ok

  2. I am 1000% against mortgaging the future to get ANY QB.

1)the bust ratio is SO high on even the most highly touted prospects.

2)To be the ground and pound offense both AP and Getsy want, we need a mountainous and strong RT

    3) We have two quarterbacks on the roster who are proven to be able to play good NFL football and win.

With what is looking like an elite defense and so many great skill position players, we don’t need a top 3 QB to win games iincluding a super bowl.

  3. Remember the last LSU QB, the Raiders went South , I don’t think we need to repeat that, we need to stick with Aiden and mold him Adam’s. Mitchell can be his back up
