Report: Three Teams Including Raiders in the Running for Jadeveon Clowney

According to Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports, there are essentially three teams in the running for the services of Jadeveon Clowney. At least that’s the way it looks right now.

“You basically have a three-team picture between the Seahawks, Titans and Raiders [trying to sign Jadeveon Clowney],” Robinson reported on Tuesday. “And of that trio, the Titans and Seahawks make the most sense in terms of being able to add Clowney late in the preseason, because of his familiarity with the schemes and/or coaching staffs.”

The Titans might be the favorite to sign Clowney, but the notion that Jon Gruden reportedly really wants to bring him to the Raiders shouldn’t be understated. The Raiders don’t need another pass rusher, but what team ever suffered for having too many pass rushers?

For what it’s worth, there is also this tweet from ESPN’s Josina Anderson.

No Title

I’ll just add this for the moment, there’s another team out there interested in him no one is really talking about as a 43 DE, but at a different rate clearly. Last time I spoke to him he said he knows teams have money, so there you go. Ha.

A mystery team that no one is “really” talking about?

Just a guess, but it sounds like Clowney’s decision will come down to primarily money. That’s not a knock on him, but there hasn’t been any talk of him wanting to join a contender or having a preferred destination.

That may or may not be a good thing for the Raiders.
