Like everyone else, Rich Gannon has been watching the Raiders up-and-down start to the season, and he shared a few pointed opinions this week on the team’s flagship radio station.
Gannon started by talking about the on-going perception of the Raiders around the league.
It’s a perception that Gannon says has been going on for a while.
“When you look at the Raiders, people say they talk a good game, but there’s no substance. That’s not my opinion. That’s just, I think, the opinion when you talk to different people around the league,” Gannon said this week on Raider Nation Radio’s JT the Brick Show.
“That’s important for the Raiders to know. It’s important for the Raiders to change that, and the only way to change that is for the players in the locker room to handle it,” Gannon continued. “[Antonio Pierce] can talk about after the game [that] some people made business decisions. The players have to police the locker room. I always say great teams, you hand the leadership over of the team back over to the players and that’s what has to happen. Somebody has to get fed up. Somebody has to get annoyed.”
Gannon then talked about the Raiders history of losing to weaker teams after getting a big win like the one they got in Baltimore in week 2…
“It’s been a problem for the Raiders now for a while,” Gannon said.
“I’m not talking about success where you’re winning division championships, you’re winning Super Bowls. I’m talking about a little bit of success. It goes right to your head. You come back from 10 on the road against Baltimore, and you can’t come back on a home opener and beat the Carolina Panthers who’ve had a lead for 10 seconds in 10 straight games? And you let them come on to your home field and drop a house on you?”
“See, that’s what’s upsetting to me as a Raider, to see that the players aren’t going to take the ownership and that’s what has to happen. You want to change it? You’ve got to start taking ownership.”
This week will bring a huge test for the team’s culture under Pierce in his first full season as head coach.
Maxx Crosby and Davante Adams have both been ruled out and another desperate team, the Cleveland Browns, are coming to Las Vegas looking to turn their season around.
Will the Raiders be able to bounce back and steal a shorthanded win at home against the lowly Browns?

Pierce is not a good coach, and neither is the OC.
Raiders are headed for a 5-12 season.
Rich Gannon is a true Raider talking true Raider ****, I wish we could do a time travel and bring him back
No, we lose again. I think a lot of the Raiders have it in their mind that they might as well. Just tank the season. And then hopefully pick the right quarterback next year. We’re seeing how that goes with all the other teams quarterbacks are hit and miss. They look like stars in college and then they come to the NFL the Raiders comparing them to old raider teams, the newer teams have no heart
Nfl SUCKS…
One game on thus Sunday morning, unless you’re paying to watch.
I went out for breakfast instead.
