The Raiders had a disappointing 2025 season, but with Brock Bowers, Ashton Jeanty, a Super Bowl winning head coach and the anticipated arrival of Fernando Mendoza, a brighter future looks to be in the cards.
That’s the good news.
The bad news is that another superstar looks to be on his way out the door, and the presence of Tom Brady doesn’t seem to be enough to make Maxx Crosby want to stay.
In fact, it’s starting to look like Brady is part of the reason Crosby isn’t happy in the first place.
A report on Wednesday from The Athletic’s Mike Silver pulled back the curtain on Tom Brady’s personal trainer Alex Guerrero, who is now the “wellness coordinator” in the Raiders’ building, and the reviews weren’t great.
“Like many players and coaches, Crosby was frustrated by the presence of Alex Guerrero, a staunch Brady ally whose official title is wellness coordinator,” Silver wrote in his latest column at The Athletic.
“Guerrero, who regularly attends practices and meetings, purports to possess significant organizational power, informing players of impending transactions and even indicating to staff members who don’t follow his instructions that their jobs may be at risk,” Silver continued. “Guerrero is perceived to have a direct pipeline to Brady, who lives in Florida and serves as Fox’s lead NFL analyst, limiting his in-person presence.”
Silver isn’t the first to report on Guerrero’s unpopularity in the Raiders’ locker room and other accounts have hinted that Crosby’s issue in Las Vegas goes above GM John Spytek and doesn’t involve Mark Davis – leaving only person in the building (even though he’s rarely in the building) to blame.
Jim Rome talked about Brady’s role with the Raiders on Wednesday and said Brady has the best job in the NFL but is doing “the worst job ever.”
“He was supposed to be the one to bring stability and unity to that franchise,” Rome said of Brady on the Jim Rome Show.
“Instead, he pops in four times a year, calls shots from wherever the hell he is, and just leaves his creepy lap dog, Narc, wellness guru, behind in his stead to make everybody uncomfortable. No wonder Maxx wants out and he absolutely should. Anybody who wants to win should be running away from this slab of bacon and his wellness coordinator.”
“I’m telling you, this dude, this dude’s got the best job ever,” Rome continued. “Think about it, he only has to show up four or five times a year. He has almost total autonomy and power. He can say and do whatever the hell he wants from wherever the hell he wants, all while having his rats and moles report to him while he runs an NFL franchise remotely. Best job ever, but he’s doing the worst job ever.”
“How about this guy coming around again? [Guerrero] is right where [Brady] always is, right in the middle of something. Man, it’s like a package deal. You can’t get rid of the guy. Remember how much they hated having that guy around? The Patriots facility, but what could you do? The GOAT wanted him there, and the GOAT was stacking Lombardis. And now, the GOAT is stacking L’s… [Guerrero] is doing his job. Being a rat, wellness coordinator. Same old Raiders. Dysfunctional as they ever were.”
Does Silver’s report all but guarantee Crosby will be out the door in Las Vegas?
If we’ve learned anything in the last year, Brady is going to do things the way he wants, and Guerrero seems to be as close to Brady as anyone in the industry.
Brady isn’t going anywhere and, presumably, Guerrero isn’t either.
It would be interesting to know Brady’s reaction to Silver’s report, but at some point, it seems like Brady will need to sit down and have a discussion with Crosby if he has any intention of bringing his All-Pro pass rusher back.

This isn’t news. It was in social media weeks ago, it’s the dirt that the Raiders radio and podcast personalities have been keeping “locked up”. It’s not “fake news” as the ego-maniac lunch time antiquated voice of the franchise was saying last week. This Guerrero, Tommy Boy’s personal RFKjr, was the first crack in the Patriot dynasty. Raiders better cut the line, this dude is bad news.
WOW!! True or not, the Raiders have a lot of work to do. The Raiders haven’t been interested in winning since Al Davis died, Mark Davis is only interested in the money, and the Raiders are just a hobby for Tom Brady. He sold his soul to the devil one to many times with the Pats and Bucs. Now he’s on his own to fix the Raiders and so far he doesn’t know WTF he is doing. This might be the only shot to get it right with Mendoza or just continue to be a laughing stock for the league. Just get it right Raiders and F**k all you haters!!
Man F Jim Rome. Hes a nobody anyways and ain’t been relevant in yrs as far as talkshows go. I thought dude passed away for real cause I haven’t heard ish from him in so long. All yall fkboys that wanna hate on the Raiders cause you see we’re making good moves and yall know we’re heading back up gonna look stupid in the coming yrs. RN4L
I don’t like Jim Rome. As I said this story has been out there for weeks, Rome is just coming in late, but has what’s left of his national audience that it got noticed. Nobody is Raider Hating when they want this outsider, shunned by the Patriots organization for spreading bad vibes, that the locker-room complained about, out of our building. Remember the story is Max, “and other players” on the team who are not happy with Guerrero. It’s a cancer, it will spread.
I despise Jim Rome but I find accuracy in what he said
I’ve read books about the dysfunction with Guerrero and Brady and the Patriots. This is a bomb waiting to explode. It should be obvious that Guerrero should not be in the locker room or annoying players with his BS. It’s hard enough to win in the NFL without having obstacles constantly thrown in your path. Maxx is a smart guy. Maybe he’s given up on the Raiders ever managing to run the organization in an effective, intelligent manner. If so, that’s a real shame. It infuriates me that stuff like this invades what used to be one of the flagship franchises. I am a Raiders fan but I truly do not like all the extraneous crap that goes on, Guerrero just the most recent example. Mark and the GM need to right this ship but can they?
