According to The Athletic’s Vic Tafur, the Raiders would “love” to have Nelson Agholor back next year, but as it has been well-documented over the past few weeks, the decision is going to come down to money.
Last week, a Sports Illustrated story pointed to a rumor that some, or at least someone, expects Agholor to ultimately return to the Raiders on a two-year deal worth about $15 million. Tafur called the report “total BS” and on Monday said that Agholor’s next deal might have to be similar to the four-year, $44 million deal that the Raiders gave to Tyrell Williams. The previous week Tafur said that he would be surprised if Agholor returned to the Raiders – so take that for what it’s worth.
It will be interesting to see how the free agent market plays out at wide receiver because there is no shortage of available talent. The Athletic‘s Sheil Kapadia ranks Agholor at no. 9 among receivers expected to hit the free agent market behind Allen Robinson, Chris Godwin, Kenny Golladay, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Corey Davis, Will Fuller, T.Y. Hilton, and Curtis Samuel (who, by the way, would look great in silver and black). At this point, we seem to have the high ($11 million per-year) and low ($7.5 million per-year) estimates on Agholor’s next deal. Now we’ll wait and see where the numbers actually fall.
Overall, Agholor had the best statistical season of his career in 2020. His 896 receiving yards and 18.7 yards-per-reception were both career bests and he tied his best season in Philadelphia with 8 receiving touchdowns. It’s hard to imagine Agholor finding a better fit outside of Las Vegas and how anxious will Jon Gruden be to roll the dice on another receiver?

I don’t trust anything vic tafur says. I still believe he just makes up stories and rumours to have something to write about cause he lacks the actual skill of being a raiders beat writer. I say bring back aghlor. No more than 8 mil a year preferably.
Bring Nelly back (9 mill absolute max), both him and Waller were the twin driving force in the mid to long range threat last season & pray the rookies really find their feet come September to add that extra dimension.
Nelson Algholor had one good season and now they want to pay him like he’s a top WR. If he doesn’t take 7 million or less, I say draft Jaylin Waddle instead because can also return kicks and keep Renfroe from more decapitations. Similar to how the Chefs use Hardman and Hill, Raiders would have Waddle and Ruggs.

Top WR’s don’t make $11 million.
