Two years ago, Mark Davis made the regrettable decision to not listen to his players and moved away from the team’s popular interim head coach.
The locker room wanted Rich Bisaccia. Davis gave them Josh McDaniels.
The decision to hire McDaniels essentially cost the organization two seasons as their head coach and GM walked away on Halloween night with roughly $85 million in exchange for nine wins.
Davis has publicly stated that he wants to have a thorough interview process in the search for his next head coach, but the situation is once again going to be complicated by the fact that the players don’t want a new head coach. They want Antonio Pierce.
Davante Adams said as much this week.
“[Antonio Pierce] is obviously who I’ve wanted. That’s my vote and I’ve been vocal about that. That’s basically how the whole locker room feels and with good reason,” Adams told members of the media on Wednesday.
“He’s come in and done a great job and continued to win us over. It’s not just the comfortable thing. I think having AP here will be good for this organization. He kind of embodies what it means to be a Raider… all the things that he endorses is the things that I believe in.”
Maxx Crosby has also voiced his support for Antonio Pierce to the Raiders owner and considering how the team has responded to Pierce as a head coach, it would be a gutsy move by Davis to bring in a new head coach.
As it stands, there are some who believe Davis would like to hire Jim Harbaugh, who certainly has a better resume than Pierce, but what would the consequences be for ignoring the locker room for the second time in two years?
That’s something we might never find out… or we could find out very soon.

Your thinking is why we had lack luster players. Come in do as you told and get a check. Don’t play with heart just do as you told. We need players that want to be a Raider Pride. Not just a camera show. Marc do not put fear in people like his dad did. This why the league hates the Raiders. But want them. We been 22 yrs since we seen SB. Yet We are still one of the biggest brands. Vegas. Increased our Revenue way better than the League thought.

Have to agree that Mark Davis is the most incompetent owner in pro football. Bisaccia got them into the playoffs during a VERY tumultuous year for the first time in how long? And instead he goes with a guy who had already proven he was a loser without Tom Brady as both an HC and OC. Head shakingly bad.

Yes, I know Antonio Pierce has done a great job with the Raiders even though we didn’t make the playoffs but look at what he’s done in his short time with us, he’s brought us together as a team on and off the field including in the locker room, to bring in a new head coach with just erupt the team, not only do just the team support him but the fans as well, in other words wife fix it when it’s not broken? Why not give AP a chance. He has proven in the short time as head coach that the team has “total ‘confidence in his leadership. Mr. Davis PLEASE hire Antonio Pierce as the Raiders head coach.
AP is the best thing that has happened to the raiders since signing A. Adams. We showed spurts of Greatness again this season. I started watching the Whole games again and not a few quarters only turn it off before it gets too bad. Thank you AP for restoring Pride in the Raiders.
If Mark Davis does hire AP I just hope it works out cause AP doesn’t do to good a job at managing a game. Yeah he’s great at get the players all pumped up and hyped up to go play but it’s a lot more to being a head coach than just being a great hype man. I just hate to see harbaugh go to the Chargers and get them turned around and playing in the playoffs yr in and yr out. Cause just look at the coaches that could maybe be in our division next year.. Andy Reid… Sean Payton… Maybe Jim Harbaugh.. and us with Antonio Pierce. Now be honest if that’s the coaches in our division next year we probably have the worst coach in the division especially when it comes to experience being a NFL head coach. Then 2of those other 3 teams in our division have franchise type QBs and Denver may draft there franchise QB in next year’s draft. So basically what I’m saying is we can’t really afford to miss on any decisions the team makes this off season cause we’re already playing catch up to the other teams in the division and hell I don’t even wanna talk about the other teams in the AFC… Like Baltimore.. Miami.. Buffalo.. and even teams like Houston and Jacksonville.. those teams are set up good with QBs and good head coaches. So yeah Mark Davis don’t have a lot of room for error in his decisions this off season.

AP has united the locker room , got a chronically underperforming defensive unit to gel and become a top scoring defense , beat the chiefs in KC for the 2nd time in like 10 years and beat the breaks off the bolts. He took another coaches team that was lost and righted the ship on the fly. He basically took the wheel and steered the team away from the cliff, kept them on course and accomplished things the “splash signings” couldn’t ….and also brought in talent like Jones and took underperforming players out and helped good players play to a higher standard.but yeah mark make the same mistakes twice , Mr. Splash !
The raiders are in debt. Is it two other coaches? I think it’s fair to give Antonio Pierce a fair shot at doing the job he’s been doing for the last half a year give him a two-year contract. Gave other people a long contracts and they could not do the deal do the right thing Mark Davis. Give him a chance

Sorry to say it but since the firing off McDaniels ,its been a fan waiting to see the team in general succeed in the few games that I thought would had been terrible losses ,actually won n defense was there but for some reason it was being held back,even offense was terrible an now it’s a team you willing to watch on tv even with the few lost games its just enjoyable to watch them fight for each other till the end when that clock stops, the players just have a better spark around Antonio pierce an the rest of the coaches around him, an don’t let that defensive coach walk away eather find away to keep him from leaving , just a few players to add an this team should compete at it’s best under this coaching staff, also not worth releasing gimmy g u still have to pay him no matter what just saying, McDaniels was holding players from being the best n through carr under the bus I bet if he was still on the team with would hat loved to be playing under AP, an the rest off the coaching staff, Aidan o’Connell is ok but still needs to learn more n probably still has nightmares from McDaniels n the first game he played against the chargers but he has progressed since then ,wish Mark Davis listen to his players an not the them media ,he probably will screw up again, good luck to all the coaching staff, hope we see u all in the upcoming season, AP Ap AP AP
Mr. Davis, AP is doing a decent job stop providing. He just stepped in and threw it over during the season. But some of your players are letting their emotions and friendship get in the way A. P is a good person. Easy going but I but I don’t feel. He’s got the leadership to get you into a Super Bowl. On the other hadd, Jim Harbaugh. I think would be a great acid. I’m sure he could do better than half. Of the games. But I can almost assure you that he would be. Or have you in the playoffs in 2 seasons? Maybe the wish the players wouldn’t mix up. Friendship with what’s really going on. Some of these guys that are talking about AP doing a great job or probably looking to get out of the organizatissue. That’s my opinion.

JH got the resume, every where he’s bn he’s turned the situation around and won. AP still making rookie coaching mistakes. Don’t know if u wanna waste yrs trying to win with a rookie head coach. If it’s between them 2 either one is good , but personally I am leaning towards JH cause I’ve seen what he did with Stanford, Niners, and Michigan
I have always been a fan of the underdog, that is how I became a Raider fan. Keep A.P.!!! They are starting to look like Tom Flores type team again, history should repeat itself.
