Kenny Pickett is the latest quarterback in the mix in Las Vegas, and there’s some irony to Pickett joining the Raiders considering the comments Tom Brady made about him on the sideline in 2022.
In his final year with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Brady and the Bucs found themselves down 10-6 in the second quarter to the 1-4 Pittsburgh Steelers led by Pickett in his first NFL season.
Brady wasn’t happy and sideline microphones caught him yelling at his offensive line with just under a minute remaining in the half.
“I didn’t leave my wife and kids to be losing to Kenny F—ing Pickett at the half,” Brady can be heard saying behind the FOX broadcast voice.
As it turned out, Brady ended up losing 20-18 to Kenny “F—ing” Pickett and his quarterback running mate Mitchell Trubisky.
Pickett was largely ineffective in the game, throwing for 67 yards on 18 pass attempts, but the rookie didn’t turn over the ball and as has been the case for years, the Pittsburgh defense carried the Steeler quarterbacks to an unlikely win.
The Buccaneers went on to make the playoffs with a record of 8-9 in 2022 and lost to the Dallas Cowboys in the Wild Card round of the playoffs.
The Steelers finished the 2022 season with a 9-8 record but missed the playoffs.
