Amy Trask Points to Problematic Person “Behind the Scenes” in the Raiders Organization

The Raiders have experienced plenty of problems on the field in recent years, but according to former CEO of the team, Amy Trask, some of the issues this year have been related to problems off the field.

Trask didn’t mention Mark Davis or Tom Brady as concerning influences in the organization. Instead, she pointed to Jim Gray.

Grey is a well-known Emmy-winning sportscaster, who is known to be close with Brady. Gray wiggled into the deal that brought Brady to the Raiders and whatever he is doing within the organization, he isn’t perceived to be a positive influence from Trask’s perspective.

“There are, of course, on field problems, but there are also a lot of problems off the field behind the scenes,” Trask said on CBS Sports HQ.

“Many people assume when I say ‘behind the scenes’ that I’m referring to Tom Brady, but I’m not. The individual who orchestrated Tom’s purchase in the Raiders of the limited partnership interest in the Raiders, Jim Gray, has been working to orchestrate the purchase of an interest in the Raiders since Al [Davis] was alive and we were in the process of selling a minority interest in the team,” Trask continued.

“Well, he finally orchestrated the purchase and now he is involved in every aspect, or almost every aspect, of the organization. This is having an impact on the organization, not only off the field, but on the field. Pete Carroll is a very good head coach, but the problems we’re seeing on the field are related to the problems that are rampant throughout the organization. They’ve got to fix the off-field behind the scenes issues in order to give Pete a chance to be his best.”

Trask didn’t offer any details on the ownership dynamic that is apparently causing problems behind the scenes, but these kinds of stories don’t tend to stay hidden for long.

If Carroll doesn’t last in Las Vegas beyond this year, which some believe he will not, it probably won’t take long to learn more about what Trask was talking about.

Whatever is going on among members of the Raiders’ ownership group, it’s becoming clear that there are a host of powerful people influencing the organization behind the scenes.

Maybe that will turn out to be a good thing, but everyone knows what they say about having too many cooks in the kitchen.

  1. I just read the article, it might b true, but on the field play’s. I’ve never in my life, I never seen the raiders this bad. I personally don’t think any qb would b great behind that front line. Why keep play’n smith? Yry thee other two qb’s, it surly won’t hurt. I wouldn’t be surprised if the offensive coordinator gets the axe.

    1. Well cip Kelly cut loose who gets the axe nt same ol crap but just think what the raiders will do with their high draft picks will the get the o line guys they need probly not but hey go raiders just flop baby another year or two sad ****

  2. I mean she didn’t really say much but I agree that Jim Grey, Mark, Brady are all flipping imbeciles

  3. When Mark Davis took over I had high hopes for him, but now I say please mark sell the team please please!

  4. This nonsense has gone on way too long. Maybe one or two respectable seasons since 2002? I hope no fans attend games until they put a competitive team on the field. I’m out.

  5. It is because Jim Gray is famous from Mark’s television. He’s literally isolated from any currently relevant NFL decision makers, so he gravitates towards famous people he knows from TV. We’ve known about this for a while, but it’s why the Raiders will likely always suck with this failson nepo baby as owner.

If it wasn’t Jim Gray, it would be Rex Ryan or some other unqualified relic, or former Raider. I hear Rich Gannon may be available for the GM job! Rich Eisen is too expensive.

  6. The raiders are doing what they been doing for the last 40 years . Lose. It doesn’t matter who they have as owners, players or coaches. They are losers . I don’t expect them to go to the Superbowl every year but more than once in 40 years is ridiculous.

    1. The Raiders were in the Super Bowl in 2003. That wasn’t 40 years ago, Chief. There’s still a handful of NFL teams that have never been in the Super Bowl. Ever. Granted they have been awful since 2003 except for two winning seasons with hope, but if you’re going to have a crybaby meltdown here, at least get the math right.

  7. If you get to many good people in place then all the others will look even worse so sell the team to a person that is a house cleaner and blow the team up and start over with good players not big names and paydays wats there to loose you suck now

  8. Grey and Brady were a packaged deal. They have a history of working together. Mark is **** dumb on anything football he continues to fall for perceived football guys. Mark admitted to trying to lure Gruden back prior to 2018. In his mind Gruden was a great football mind. He wasn’t b4, wasn’t in 2018 still isn’t today. Mark wanted Brady in the Raider orbit because Mark perceived Tom to be a great football mind. Again Tom who was a great QB but isn’t a great football mind. We now have Tom as a meddling owner (that didn’t have to even pay full price to get in) attempting to be President of football operations, Head of national scouting dept, GM, OC, HC, and even Senior defensive assistant. Mark once again has listened to the wrong people. Mark had a chance to move the organization in the right direction by hiring Ben Johnson and pair him with a top DC in either R.Salah or D.Allen. Almost every single transaction since the end of last year has been a failure. Does everyone understand how hard that is to do?

  9. Two winning seasons since their 2003 Super Bowl appearance.

    TWO.

This isn’t a problem that just happened or just happened under Mark Davis. But it’s gotten worse, no doubt.

    1. The late Al years are easier to explain. Al lost hours fastball and connection with where the league was the last decade of his life. He was so desperate to win, he consistently made reckless deals that backfired because of said lack of fastball.

The Mark years are a bit more nuanced, but it basically boils down to him being a failson with no track record of being successful at anything.

  10. The organization is the Raiders main problem. It started with Al Davis and his feud with Marcus Allen. Then firing Gruden. Then comes his son who doesn’t have a clue. Please sell the team to a owner who wants to have a championship team

  11. Garbage owner stupid coach get rid of great players and keep sorry players that have no clue how to play there position on the field giving away money
