Turns Out Rich Bisaccia Was One of Mike Mayock’s Favorite Coaches Long Before They Both Joined the Raiders

Officially, there is a coaching search going on in Las Vegas, but unless interim head coach Rich Bisaccia has a yet-to-be-discovered stash of offensive emails, he has become the overwhelming favorite to be named Raiders’ head coach at the end of the season.

Not only is it in Bisaccia’s favor that the Raiders are playing their best football in years (maybe decades), it turns out that he was one of Mike Mayock’s favorite coaches long before both men joined the Raiders.

According to Philadelphia media personality Paul Domowitch, who also happens to be a Pro Football Hall of Fame voter, Mayock told him years ago that Bisaccia would make a great head coach in the NFL.

This is what Domowitch says Mayock told him all the way back in 2012:

“There are 3 to 4 Special Teams coaches who deserve a shot and Rich [Bisaccia] would be at the top of my list. He’s the next John Harbaugh. He would be a guy I would bang the table for.”

So if you’re betting on the Raiders next head coach, get your money in on Bisaccia while you can. Mayock loves him and a lot would have to go wrong for the Raiders to blow up the continuity they have in the building and on the roster right now.

But then again, never say never about anything when it comes to the Raiders.

  1. Get rid of Derek Carr.He can have all the stats in the world but when you cant win in the playoffs your not worth much

    1. Ugh, wait till this year’s playoffs. If he falls down, he should be out and the anti- Carr fans are proved right. If he plays the hero he stays and all the haters have to leave or eat crow.

    2. Tell me you’re clueless about football without telling me you’re clueless about football.

    3. You’re an idiot !! Do you realize Carr hasn’t lost in the playoffs because he was hurt and couldn’t play in playoffs !! We need a QB to get us to the playoffs and that’s Carr when he gets his chance in the playoffs then you can say get rid of him .. Plus we never had a defense to even stop anyone so now that we have a half way decent defense let’s see what we got !!

    4. To Jason And the Arghhhhhhh-Carr-Nots,

I’ve had this discussion with my friends for — well, what is it? The EIGHTH season now??? Who cares if you throw for 4000 yards if you’ve NEVER even sniffed a playoff game??? Give me Mariota or Peterson then… at least they won’t get dissed by Joey Bosa… Carr is not a Maserati — he’s a Prius with a bad warranty.

I agree with you completely, Jason!!!

    5. you my friend are a trolling idiot. Carr has never had the chance to play in playoffs.

    6. How do you somehow ‘know’ he can’t win in the playoffs when he’s NEVER played in a playoff game??! I get it, you hate the guy as a QB for some reason. Why not just man-up and admit that instead of spouting illogical, talking-heads nonsense?

    7. What a jock-sniffer comment emanating from Mommy’s basement. Yeah Einstein, get rid of Waller, Crosby, Ruggs, and Kolten Miller too because they haven’t won a single Super Bowel between them!

    8. Get rid of u! Man unless u playing or out there coaching u don’t have any business commenting!! Carr is best QB out there, so shut the “F” up!! Ok

  2. Anyone who said get of D.Carr isn’t watching football this year. Clearly he is only behind Brady in any significant stat(TD”s ,Yards,). Not to mention, he’s a leader and if I am correct…leads the NFL in comeback victories… Now he has a half decent defense watch how everyone’s oppion will change.

  3. Good, also gives the players additional motivation. Win and keep coach or lose and learn all new play book

  4. Bisaccia Carr head coach qb combo is looking mighty strong right now! Finally with a defense that is playing great this Raiders team is poised to make a run to the playoffs! If everyone stays healthy Las Vegas will make noise in the playoffs as well! Rich Bisaccia absolutely deserves to have the interim tag removed and be permanently named HC, and Carr needs to get an extension and finally the Raiders will have a team built to be a perennial contender in the NFL

  5. To suggest that Carr is the reason he has not played in the playoffs is simply not accurate. The guy is money in Q4 And ot. Which is to say that with the game on the line – he is money. If the Raiders had had even a bad or average defense during his tenure they would have won a lot more games. How many times since 2014 has Carr put the Raiders in a position to win – only to have the defense blow it. Or how many games has Carr lost because of poor play.

In 2016 the Raiders had a decent defense that closed out games. The Raiders were 12-4 or 12-3 in games that Carr started. Imagine if the Raiders had a defense like that last year or 2019?

Carr is a great QB – that is getting better. Give him a decent d and the Raiders will keep on winning. Simple as that.

  6. There is no arguing the results of the first two games post Gruden. Bisacca seems to have this team focused and his approach of staying out of the coordinators way and just managing the game is working. But we also have to be a bit realistic about the talent of the teams played. Neither is above .500. Like many I am hoping this is a spring board to greater success that will lead to a playoff spot (run?). When healthy, this offense can score with anyone and Olson appears to be opening up the playbook and being less predictable then Gruden. If the defense can maintain the pressure on the QB and be a top 15 unit the Raiders could remain in play for the AFC West title. They need to use the bye week to heal and prepare for the second half of the season. None of the remaining games are gimme matchups. We have to win our division games (Chiefs twice, Donkeys and Chargers one more time) and take care of business at home they should be at least a wild card team. R4L!

  7. I am tired of the all the people who don’t anything about football dissing my man Dereck Carr.. he is a top 5 qb period.. he also is a leader who takes the blame and never throws teammates under the bus.. great man in the community… on top of play with subpar weapons until this year… add to that grudens predictable play calling and the 2 weeks he took the ball out of cards hands.. all you dummies really learn football before you talk smack about carr ..bc if they put him on trading block teams would beined up to take him… if you don’t like our qb pick a different team… and thecrsiders not making the playoffs is not on him, he has done his part and then some. . Never complaining often trying to motivate teammates and build them up as well as taking blame for team not winning.. he accepts that role all you dummies need to look at everything our franchise qb does for our team that goes ×ell beyond the sidelines

  8. Okay folks enough, if your really a raider fan get off the throwing Carr and any other player under the bus.

How many of you have played the game at a level higher than high school? 🤔 You can talk a little smack. The rest of you can sit down and shut up. It’s that simple folks. Been a fan since 1963. How long have you been around?

  9. What are some of you guys talking about, Carr has had now 5 OC’s and how QB have had that in there careers. I do believe he will shine in playoffs and wish him all the luck in the world. GOR RAIDERS!!!

    1. And he’s so much more relaxed w Chuckie gone!! Guys had it right when they say Carr always in bk head grud was always looking 4 a QB!! So now, screw em, Carr r man & taking us 2 the super duper raider bowl baby!!
