The Jaguars had been trying to trade running back Leonard Fournette for a while, but on Monday morning the (presumably tanking) franchise decided to just release him.
Meanwhile in Las Vegas, the Raiders still don’t have a proven short-yardage running back on the roster other than Josh Jacobs. With that in mind, would the Raiders potentially be interested in Fournette?
Fournette doesn’t have the best track record as a teammate in Jacksonville, but he is only 25 and is still a start-quality running back in terms of physical skills. Coming out of college, Raiders GM Mike Mayock (who then worked for NFL Network) did a lot of studying on Fournette, so it will be interesting to see if there is any interest from the Raiders three years later.
Check out this conversation between Mayock and Fournette prior to the 2017 draft.

A lot has happened in the three years since, but if the Raiders aren’t happy with their situation at running back, they do have one more option as of today.
Jon Gruden, of course, might have some say in the idea, too…
