Who Are The Raiders Eying to Replace Nelson Agholor?

The consensus seemed to be that Nelson Agholor was going to re-sign with the Raiders, but the Patriots swooped in on Monday and lured him away with a two-year, $26 million deal.

The question now… will Jon Gruden roll with his young wide receivers or go hunting for another veteran to plug into the starting lineup?

One name that has been linked to the Raiders is JuJu Smith-Schuster. The Raiders have reportedly reached out to Smith-Schuster’s representatives, but if they wouldn’t pay Agholor $13 million per year, would they spend even more on someone else?

If not Smith-Schuster, what about Curtis Samuel?

The Lynn Bowden Jr. experiment failed miserably, but Samuel could add a versatile dynamic at wide receiver (and running back) that Gruden once craved. Remember Gruden talking about having a “joker” in his offense a year ago?

Given what we know about Gruden, he isn’t likely to turn the reins over to sophomore receivers Henry Ruggs III and Bryan Edwards. He surely has his eye on a veteran wideout to replace Agholor… but who exactly is that going to be?

One last name to think about might be Marvin Jones Jr. The former Lions wide receiver can do just about everything Agholor can do, but presumably at a fraction of the cost.

  1. Shopping at K-Mart annually is why this 2021 will yield a record of 5-11, especially since they will bring Carr back. Mr. excuse.

  2. Agholor made some pretty great catches but also saw him drop a couple easy ones and overall he was solid for us so we don’t need to break the bank to get anything special as it really comes down to Carr placing the ball accurately to anyone that knows how to catch and we are fine, just continue to spend on the D and we will be fine.
