Whoa! Look How Aidan O’Connell’s Box Score Against the Jets Compared to Allen, Mahomes, Hurts and Herbert

The Raiders won what some would call an “ugly” game on Sunday night against the Jets, but in many ways, it was their best performance of the season.

Patrick Graham’s defense held the Jets to 12 points and didn’t give up a touchdown. Josh Jacobs rushed for 100 yards for the first time this season and his 4.3 yards-per-carry was also his highest output of the season – against arguably best defense in the league.

Aidan O’Connell made his third career start and although his numbers didn’t stand out in the box score, O’Connell actually played better than four of the top quarterbacks in the league in their matchups against the Jets’ defense this year.

The Bills, Chiefs, Eagles, and Chargers have all played the Jets this year and their quarterbacks have combined for 3 touchdown passes and 8 interceptions (a 62.8 QB rating) in those games.

Here’s a closer look at how O’Connell, Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, Jalen Hurts, and Justin Herbet fared against the Jets this season…

Raiders 16, Jets 12

O’Connell was without the services of one of the best left tackles in the league, and the Jets are the last team you want to play with injuries along the offensive line. O’Connell was under pressure all night and had to escape pressure on what ended up being the game-winning touchdown throw to Michael Mayer in the fourth quarter.

Bills 16, Jets 22

The Bills probably thought they were getting a free pass when Aaron Rodgers ruptured his Achilles on the first drive of the game, but that didn’t happen. The Jets defense held the Bills to 16 points through four quarters and won the game on a 65-yard punt return in overtime.

Chiefs 23, Jets 20

The Chiefs scored 17 points in the first quarter, but Patrick Mahomes was largely ineffective after that. His 203 passing yards against the Jets was his second-lowest output of the season.

This was also one of Zach Wilson’s best efforts of the season.

Jets 20, Eagles 14

Jalen Hurts turned in his worst game of the season against the Jets. His 59.5 quarterback rating was his worst since November of 2021.

The Jets remain the only team to beat the Eagles (8-1) this year.

Chargers 27, Jets 6

Justin Herbert didn’t play well, but the Chargers were too much for the Jets. Herbert has only been held under 200 passing yards twice this year – once against the Jets (136) and once against the Raiders (167).
