Tedy Bruschi on the Patriots Firing Bill Belichick in Season: “We’re Not the Raiders and That’s Not Josh McDaniels”

Bill Belichick is still sputtering along with the ‘Patriot Way’ in New England, but as we’ve learned in recent years, there is no ‘Patriot Way’ without Tom Brady and Walt Coleman.

The Patriots have the worst record in the AFC and they are arguably the worst team in the NFL.

There have been rumors that Belichick could be in his last season with the Patriots, but former Patriots linebacker Tedy Bruschi said that talk of him being fired during the season is “asinine” and took a shot at the Raiders in the same statement…

“We are not the Las Vegas Raiders and that is not Josh McDaniels right there. You let Bill [Belichick] finish this out, Mr. Kraft, and then whatever draft pick you have at the end, have that meeting, and whatever you come up with whether he moves on or not, have it then. That discussion [on whether Belichick finishes the season] is asinine.”

It’s fair to take shots at the Raiders after the last 20+ years of mostly losing football, but it’s worth noting that the Patriots have lost consecutive games against the Raiders and McDaniels was the head coach on the Raiders’ sideline in both games.

McDaniels couldn’t win games against Jeff Saturday, Tyson Bagent, and Baker Mayfield after two days with the team, but he did beat Belichick in each of the last two seasons.

That’s an embarrassment.

Maybe the Patriots will wait until after the season to part ways with Belichick, but it’s something that definitely needs to happen.

And also… doesn’t it feel nice to not have any association with the ‘Patriot Way’ again?

  1. Has this moron seen the record of each team? By the way, you’re not on that team anymore dumbass.

  2. A fine example of impartial sports journalism. Nice job meathead. And you wonder why people hate the Patriots.

  3. Hey Bruschi, you’re (God knows why) an analyst share your thoughts as one not a biased prick that you are! You need to be removed….ASAP! now go back to belichick’s house and relive your forgotten past! The game has passed you lame coach and your pathetic memories

  4. Yeah, one of the greatest coaches in all football history. Kind of makes me think “What else could it be?”.

    1. Wow, haters only had to wait 22 years to jump on the told ya it was over, halfway through one horrible season! The difference in the Pats and everyone else is it’s a news worthy story they are struggling, not just standard operating procedure. At least the haters have more than an early playoff exit to grasp at as evidence that they were right all along about Bill being a bad coach. I cannot believe the idiocracy, smh.

    1. I’m a die-hard dolphins fan of 50 years and I hate Bill belichick idn how he won 6 Superbowls with absolutely no personality but he did and the fact he won 6 Superbowls I don’t think he should be fired this year

  5. Bruschi is right! Belichick deserves to finish the season. Tom Brady was more of a force in the Patriots success than understood but Belichick put him in a position to succeed and that’s what coaching is all about. You need top talent and coaching to win in the NFL.

  6. Wasn’t just a Brady dynasty or a a belichick dynasty it was both of them, but Brady got too old and coaches get old also, the game passes them by and also when you get older your priorities change you lose interest in things you don’t quite have that get up and go. Look at Landry and Shula they weren’t the coaches they were when they were younger and neither is Belichick. But definitely I think his time is over it’s time for him to retire like Shula or be fired like Landry

  7. I have to agree. Bill has earned at least the right to finish the season. I’m not a Patriots/Belichack fan and have always thought he was overrated as coach of the Pats, however Bob Kraft gains nothing by firing him before the season ends. Give Tedi a break as NFL analyst or not, he’s going to passionate about NE. How is he not being impartial Mr Meathead commenting earlier?

  8. I’ve noticed that a few of these ex Patriots have that problem. I don’t know whose worse Teddy or Rodney. I don’t hate on them but they could use a shot of professionalism in their new careers!

    1. Agree but Rodney did pick the Raiders to beat the Jets Sunday night. Probably because he likes the new HC.

  9. Hahahahaha. The patriots have 2 bad seasons after 20 plus years of manipulation and cheating and their soliciting owner is upset??? When will he get to see jail for his happy ending from a sex trafficked worker?
