Now that the Raiders have fallen to the no. 6 pick in the draft, a lot of fans are hoping Deion Sanders will follow through with his threat to pull an “Eli Manning” and force his son to the Raiders.
We know Sanders would like Shedeur to play for the Raiders, but there’s a chance the Raiders missed their chance to get either of the consensus top quarterbacks with their 19-14 win over the Jaguars on Sunday.
If the Raiders want to draft Shedeur, they will most likely have to trade up and they might even need an assist from the elder Sanders to run off teams interested in Shedeur.
But is there a realistic chance Deion would be able to orchestrate a stunt that lands Shedeur in Las Vegas?
We know he has talked about it, but Deion also made a comment in September where he acknowledged he probably won’t be able to manipulate the draft for his son.
”We’ve talked about it extensively. I talk to a multitude of teams at practice every day. I want what’s best for him, but I want him to be happy, as well,” Sanders told Shannon Sharpe on the Nightcap podcast in September.
”You really don’t get to dictate where your son gets to go because there’s a draft process,” Sanders continued. “But you know us, you know how we are. We know who ain’t trying to win in the NFL. You know who’s consistently in the basement year after year. You don’t want that situation for your kid… but you got to know that Shedeur is suited for adversity.”
As of today, there are three quarterback-needy teams slated to pick ahead of the Raiders in the 2025 draft.
The Giants, Titans and Browns would all pick ahead of the Raiders (if the season ended today), and there’s a good chance all three teams are going to be zeroing in Sanders and University of Miami quarterback Cam Ward.
It has been rumored that the Giants are leaning towards taking Ward, and the Jaguars are expected to take Colorado WR/CB Travis Hunter if they get the opportunity.
The Jaguars and Titans play this week in Jacksonville, so one of those teams can still fall behind the Raiders in the draft. But will the Raiders play poorly enough to lose to the Saints in week 17?
The Browns close out the season with the Dolphins and Ravens, and that means they could end up being the second quarterback-needy team to pick in the draft.
Do you suppose ‘Coach Prime’ is hoping his son ends up in Cleveland?
If there ever was a situation where Deion might try to orchestrate an “Eli” and discourage a team from drafting his son, Cleveland might just be the team to force his hand.

Just win baby. And winning means just say no to prima Donna’s with baggage. As undesirable as it is, the lines need to be rebuilt. Especially the OL.
Is it “ Just Win Baby “ or is it “ Just Win Baby “ to try and get the player of choice? I think our current quarterback given the chance and play time can get it done…… I believe bringing in another new quarterback after last season…. After we were on the right track after the Jimmy G disaster and dumping a head coach who was Never A Raider … was a huge mistake in who ever convinced M Davis to go with Jimmy G should have been fired immediately
Raiders 4 Life !
Nothing against Shedeur, but do you really want to have to deal with deion Sanders? Deon doesn’t have to be our head coach to cause problems, I’m just saying.
Everything against Shanders. Whoever he plays for will create a shitstorm of negativity. Think he’d last a week with the chiefs?
Alright RAIDERS FANS we r at the mercy of the NFL Gods where r standings are never good so we need a lot hope and prayer and faith that we will prevail. With a good QB and a few good picks in the draft and free agency we will be contenders in one of the toughest divisions in the AFC. Just Win Baby. RN4L….
