After The Kendricks Deal, Market Should Be Set For NaVorro Bowman

Mychal Kendricks is headed to Cleveland and even though the Raiders missed out on him, there is a little good news for them assuming they are still interested in re-signing NaVorro Bowman.

Whatever it is that Bowman was asking, he shouldn’t reasonably expect to get more than Kendricks.

Bowman (30) is older than Kendricks (27) and the two were eerily similar in their 2017 production according to Pro Football Focus analytics.

If Kendricks is going to make a maximum of $3.5 million, as reports have indicated, it’s a safe bet that somewhere around a million of that money isn’t guaranteed or is tied up in incentives.

Bowman should have a clear understanding of his value now and the Raiders would be foolish to balk at a deal with him for just under what Kendricks is getting.

And as far as signing Kendricks in the first place, what’s the deal with him, anyway?

Doesn’t sound like much of a ‘Gruden Grinder’, does he?

  1. I don’t think Bowman is coming back. Would be nice to have him back but I don’t see it happening. Derrick Johnson is a good consolation price though…

    1. Derrick Johnson will be a HUGE liability for us on the field. He has lost a step or three. Great locker room guy but he is way past his prime

    2. Raiders actually have a nice infusion of talent at LB… Gunther just needs to apply it to the coaching scheme and get the most out of it…
Honestly, I thing the added pieces to the D line will drastically improve that position… if they were still to get Bowman, either him or Johnson would be a rotational player at the Mike … so I don’t really see Bowman signing on to do that

  2. FIRE GREG PAPA NOW FOR TURNING INTO A RAIDER TRADER. HE WANTS TO JOIN THE WHINERS ADIOS….CROSS THE BRIDGE AND NEVER RETURN. .

Now that Papa has let if be known he is interested in working for the Whiners, why has Davis not fired him and wished him luck on the way over the bridge. . Papa as never appeared to have any loyalty to the Raiders but to himself. Mark Davis needs to fire Papa before the season begins. There are plenty of broadcasters can do the job as well as Papa did.

  3. All of this Bowman wishing and hoping reminds me of Tennessee Vols fans hoping and wishing for Gruden to be their HC. Moral of the story: Don’t get your hopes up.

  5. bowman is cool but he over valued himself. he had an up and coming team willing to give him the starting spot at decent $$$

he wanted that big money of contract b/c he knows this is his last one before he retires

can’t see him back on the raiders although it was a perfect marriage at the time

i think he sits out till some team has an injury and needs an MLB mid season.

he will end up signing a shitty 1 year deal and that will be that nobody will bring him back the next year

bowman refused to answer the door when opportunity knocked he will now have to live with his decision

he is an above average MLB who lost a step and has a high football IQ. basically a carbon copy of derrick johnson at this point.

  6. MLB has been a problem for years, yet here we are with a 35 yr old mlb ?? Drafted two tackles a round early & we can’t get **** right!! Dumb & dumber! We need to cut RM for the recent & past draft picks #95#91#88 the TE ,#20 #55 etc etc !!

  7. Yea i agree with the comment above. I would like to have em both..We’d really be in business now.

  8. Until Bowman signs with another team there is a possibility he will be back. At this point we’re just talking about table scraps in the one-year contract for a guy over 30 who is more of a role player than a consolation prize. Just saying!

  9. The raiders are thin at linebacker and the current talent isn’t enough to make the playoffs let alone the superbowl. The raiders should make it clear they want Bowman. After all he showed great talent and leadership at his position last year put in a lot of doable incentives into his contract and really show him by the contract and words that you want him. Start getting rid of dead weight e.g. Calhoun, Mario Edward’s, back up quarterback cook, etc. Do what you have to do to pay for Bowmans contract which as was said should be 3 million something with incentives making a chunk of the 3 million plus. Oakland needs proven veteran leadership. Bowman unlike Johnson has recently proven his playing ability. It’s to risky to put all your eggs in the Johnson basket especially when you factor in a possible injury to johnson.

  11. With or without Bowman , our defense will be better this season from coaching alone.
Don’t forget the Irvin / Mack attack as well … I can’t wait
