Are the Raiders Positioning Themselves to Sign Odell Beckham Jr.?

The Raiders need help at wide receiver and every indication is that they are going to make a move soon.

It was reported this week that the team is interested in DeSean Jackson, who recently cleared waivers after being released by the Rams. The other option that has everyone talking is Odell Beckham Jr., who is going to be released by the Browns very soon.

The Browns are in the process of restructuring Beckham’s contract to make it more attractive to any team considering a waiver claim on him.

The Raiders, meanwhile, have cleared a little salary cap space and there is every reason to believe they are making room to add a receiver.

Ian Rapoport on Twitter: “The #Raiders restructured the contract of RB Jalen Richard to create $1.06M in cap room, source said, a little wiggle room to operate. / Twitter”

When he is finally released, Beckham figures to have plenty of suitors, but look for the Raiders to be near or at the top of his list of preferred destinations.

And for anyone wondering which free agent wide receiver the Raider fan base would prefer…

    1. Tend to agree . . Especially with all that’s happened with the team lately. Don’t need any more drama, tram is or distraction. If Beckham can convince the team he really wants to be a Raider . . Then maybe.

  1. Desean Jackson for sure. Have a great atmosphere in that locker room. dont screw it up w Odell. we dont want any cancers to have to worry about on top of all the other stuff we got going on.

    1. My pick as well. Chemistry is critical on the Raiders. No room for me first players only team first players. If OBJ can convince Mayock he is that guy then maybe. I know Djax is.

  2. Look back and see who is more durable…Beckham will be a short term fix and most likely won’t finish the season. Jackson will be there for the playoffs.

  3. Marquee talent, Raider fit and need, that wide receiver room immediately becomes elite and the Raiders get that #1 wideout they need for a Super Bowl run

  4. **** what a dilemma !, OBJ obviously is the better talent but that fool needs to grow up , and be a team player to the max , always going to be some one with wasted talent!! Gotta prove himself before it’s too late.

  5. We’d be lucky if OBJ wants to be a Raider, don’t over think it, he can be dominant, it’s a no brainer, plus we can get DeSean too

  6. Be careful what you wish for Raiders! You have a tight locker room now, all it takes is one drama queen diva to upend all that! Just sayin’

  7. OBJ isn’t overrated? He’s under motivated! Vegas motivates! Cleveland doesn’t!….. Glitzy city new stadium die hard raider nation fan base, sitting in first place @ 5-2 in the AFC west. Poised to make a strong playoff run with Bisaccia a players coach @ the helm. OBJ is a threat that stretches the field While raider philosophy provides a wide open O with Carr pulling the trigger = OBJ rejuvenation. With the slightest run game opening up the deadly play action down the stretch in key games. This seems like a no brainier to me slam dunk for raiders & OBJ…

  8. No to OBJ. He’s nothing but a man child, crybaby that needed his daddy to step in for him. We’ve felt with enough already this year

  9. Desean vs Beckham
    Speed >
    Catching
    Attitude >
    Leadership >

    Why would anyone choose Beckham?

  10. OBJ needs to grow up and become a team player. His father and family should stay out of his business, he is a grown man now, or at least he should be by now…

  11. The fact that anyone has anything negative to say about OBJ is insane. The man has NEVER had an off the field issue, he loves football and is a great talent. Put him with a great QB and leader (Carr) and he will have everyone at seasons end denying that they ever talked down on him!

  12. The raiders are known for paying for what they want that said. they need to get what they need to make the playoffs with less distractions as possible.
