It seems like a long shot that Bill Belichick will be the next head coach of the Raiders, but a report on Thursday suggested that the six-time Super Bowl champion head coach (8-time champion if you count his career as an assistant) might be ahead of Antonio Pierce on the owner’s wish list.
After 22 miserable months with Josh McDaniels, there shouldn’t be a lot of enthusiasm around the idea of bringing the ‘Patriot Way’ back to the Raiders, but since we’re talking about the Raiders… you never know.
We don’t know a lot about what Belichick would be looking for in his next job, but it does sound like he wants a ridiculous amount of money at his next professional stop.
According to a report in The Athletic from Chad Graff and Dianna Russini, Belichick is looking for more than $20 per season from his next NFL team…
“It seems likely that he’ll pursue another coaching job, though it would need to be the right situation where Belichick could have the final say in roster construction — a situation he covets — while being paid more than $20 million per season. Belichick remains 14 wins shy of Shula’s all-time victories record, a mark he would like to surpass. There aren’t many teams with openings that have a willingness to pay Belichick and hand over all power in their personnel department.”
It is widely believed that Raiders’ owner Mark Davis would like to take another big swing with his next coaching hire, but $20 million per year for a coach that is 12-22 in his last two seasons (and has never proved he can win without Tom Brady) is an outrageous salary even in an increasingly inflated economy.
If only the Raiders could find a head-coaching candidate that the players and fans were excited about that wasn’t going to command an outlandish salary…

Bellicheat is a Bizarre Character that much I do know.
It makes zero sense. Next year he’ll be 72 years old and he’d piss off the players.
Bill Belichech is the last Patriot I want to see on the Raiders, AP is my guy and the future of the Raiders! Youth is what we need to build the dynasty for our future.
F Belichick we all saw the reason he won was because of Brady. He should retire along with Carroll but for some reason they think that they have something to offer.
Hire belechick and I’m done with the silver n black.
I will also burn all of my Raider gear. Nothing New England Dutch Boy. Have you not learned your lesson. Why the hell are garrapolo and hoyer still around?? What is Brady whispering something in your ear about billicheat? Why is Brady even around?? Get a freakin clue mark.
You obviously know nothing about football. Had it not been for the leadership and pure genius of Belichick the Patriots never would have accomplished what they did. Look back at some of the play scenes he came up with, the hours of one on one coaching of Brady. Brady showed nothing when he was at Michagan! The pure genius of how Bill planned for every opponent, preparing his team week after week was, well simply put amazing. Look at the last play in the Superbowl with Seattle. That was a scheme that was practiced. Look what they did to the Rams, who were heavy favorites, had the best “O” in the league and couldn’t score 10 points. Are you kidding! Know this, if you know anything about football, which is apparent you don’t based on your comments, Brady would never have accomplished the greatness he did without Bill. You need to get a grip and know the history of the game!
Spot on ! Bill beat the system . Best teams get last picks worst teams get first picks. NFL wants parity ! Bill went to 9 superbowls that’s almost every other year. Plus He won 6 of them over 20 years . Even tho he got close to last pick in every round for 20 years . He was amazing . He needs to break that win record . NFL should name fields , trophy’s , awards in his name ! Thanks for the memories BB!
why would anyone want to hire a Coach who’s record is under 500 without TB12. That is a no brainer. Not a good communicator, talks down to the players!

You give “Marks” a bad name. I have lived in greater Boston since before Belicheat came here. He used to be a great coach. Had a terrific defensive mind. But he has been and will always be a petulant child. Brady made the offense work. Yes, Bill and his team made some great picks in the draft and got lucky with Brady, a once in a lifetime selection. That said, the players on the field won more because of Brady’s leadership and skill the Bill’s defensive genius. Bill hasn’t listened to anyone, regardless of the quality of said advice for the past 10 years. It was time to go when he couldn’t accept that Brady was so important to the leadership of the team. The years since Brady left have been a joke.
