There’s been a lot of back and forth in the news about what might happen with Khalil Mack, but reports from Bay Area media continue to contend that the Raiders are not considering trades for their superstar edge rusher.
So what’s really going on and what will be the resolution? Inquiring minds would like to know.
Fortunately, the Athletic’s Vic Tafur has one of the more optimistic impressions of where this thing may be headed and he believes Mack could be back with the team very soon.
“The Raiders knew this was coming,” Tafur reported on Friday night. “Maybe not at $17 million more guaranteed than Von Miller’s previous landmark, but they always expected [Aaron] Donald to sign first. We’ll see if this gets things moving again with Mack. I think it will and I still think Mack reports in the next few days.
The next few days? That would potentially give Mack a full week with the team before the Raiders face the Rams on Monday Night Football.
Regardless of what happens, with Donald now under contract, the market is set for Mack. He doesn’t play the same position as Donald, but everyone understands he doesn’t have to settle for a penny less than what Donald got from the Rams.
If for some reason he does, consider it a gift to the organization that’s been frustrating him so much over the past six months.
