There are a lot of details we don’t know about Davante Adams’ departure from the Raiders, but whatever played out between Adams and the team, the situation got bad enough for the All-Pro wide receiver to request a trade.
Adams hasn’t gone into detail about what happened in Las Vegas, but a Sports Illustrated report in November shed some light on the situation from the perspective of the people around Adams while he was with the Raiders.
From the outside, there were obvious issues between Adams and head coach Antonio Pierce, even dating back to the preseason. Adams and Pierce exchanged messages through the media at different points in the season and the result was Adams being traded to the New York Jets in October.
“[I’m] extremely disappointed in the win-loss column, but as far as making the move, I don’t regret it. Not even one bit,” Adams said in December. “Nobody really, period, knows what I was going through [in Las Vegas] and knows the reasons why it had to be this way.”
Things didn’t go much better for Adams in New York and the expectation is that he won’t be with the Jets beyond this season. Adams’ contract balloons to a cap hit of more than $38 million next year and he has all the leverage necessary to force his way out of New York.
Assuming that happens, Adams will be looking for another team in the months ahead and he was asked by host Kay Adams if he would be willing to return to either of the organizations he had played for in the future.
Prior to joining the Jets, Adams only played for the Raiders and the Packers, and he said he would be willing to return to either team down the road.
”You can’t rule anything out. I got a lot of love for all the organizations I’ve played for, so I wouldn’t rule out anybody,” Adams said on the Up & Adams Show on Friday.” Obviously, I think there’s some saltiness from maybe some of the fan bases that I’ve been with because of not understanding what I was going through and the decision that I decided to make for my own personal career which somehow hurt everybody. But I would say I’m keeping my mind open to wherever.”
Only Davante knows if he would really be willing to return to the Raiders, and it’s worth keeping in mind that he has a history of being disingenuous with his statements in the past.
The reality is the Raiders are in the middle of a massive transition in their front office and coaching staff, and there’s a good chance the people who Adams didn’t work well with in Las Vegas won’t be with the team in 2025.
Regardless of where Adams plays in 2025, the Raiders are on the brink of an offseason that won’t be like any the organization has experienced in the past – and that is saying a lot. Minority owner Tom Brady is in the early stages of an overhaul that could extend to every corner of the building.
Within the next month, the Raiders will have a new head coach and GM, and flagship radio host ‘JT the Brick’ believes the team’s ownership group is going to take a huge swing at big-name candidates.
“The way I’m sensing it is they’re ready to swing big,” JT the Brick said on his weekday Raider Nation Radio show. “So instead of doing something, one guy stays, one guy leaves, one guy didn’t stay, but the other guy kind of can, but he can’t hire the coach because the decision is going to be made over him, clean it out and… you don’t clean out unless you know you have something.”
“I was talking to one of my good friends before the show and I said, I think you’ll like this down the road because I think they’re going big. They’re not doing all this, getting rid of Antonio Pierce and Tom Telesco to go small,” JT continued. “Because those are really good guys that were just relieved of their services, really good guys who fought to be here and wanted to be here. There is something bigger brewing where the Raiders want to jump in and do something big and bold.”

God Forbid! Eff him and how he felt here, he can go to hell for quiting and abandoning his teammates and fans in the RaiderNation(who by the way have been suffering long before this pos came to town)which was painfully obvious especially with disingenuous statements like were pointed out here in the article, he’s a traitor and good riddance his cancer is gone!! No one player makes a team and regardless of outcomes of games or seasons should play as a cohesive unit unselfishly and not as their own private island!! Ie Randy Moss and Charles Woodson
I’m sure you’ll find reason again to moderate my comment indefinitely and not print it, but if you don’t publish for the umpteenth time I’ll be getting my Raider news elsewhere! Longtime in The Nation!!!
Everybody can rule out this tool from coming back to the Raiders. I would add the author of this question presented to Adams should also be flipping burgers.
DA was put into an impossible situation. He was traded for by McZiggy. The trade wasn’t good only because of the compensation. A 1st & 2nd for an almost 30 yr old receiver that needed a massive contract. Then b4 the season is even over McDaniels and his giant ego decided it was Carr’s fault for the defense giving up so many double digit 4th quarter leads. And to follow that up DA gets Jimmy G who couldn’t throw downfield. I didn’t blame DA for wanting out especially since Telesco thought Minshew was a starter. If Telesco was any good he would’ve traded him during the draft after whiffing on 1st round QBs. As long as it wasn’t a large deal it would be wise to look into bringing him back.
Are you actually propping the king of the back foot rainbow? Captain check down? Every fantasy football gurus friend? Lmao. You lost all creds
Make excuses for the garbage even when the stink is overpowering
I said it before Build a bridge Then get over it. Tunnel vision. If carr has any support he might have broke some records…oh wait he did. We deserve the s#$! Show we’re going thru doing that do a raider and someone who played with heart. That coach screwed us up by sitting him.
Records don’t mean ****. Einstein. The object for a quarterback is to be good enough to lift a team and carry them to hoist a Lombardi trophy. Not records. Not stats. Cart crumbles like a cheap suit under any form of pressure. You’re beyond clueless.
See CJ Stroud for reference.
Every offseason the talking heads like JT say they’re going to swing big and great things are coming! Then the season begins and the team is out of contention by mid-October ! I’ll believe the hitting a grand slam in the offseason when I start seeing W’s stacked up in the regular season!
