Donald Penn Back At Left Tackle During Raiders OTAs

Donald Penn’s 2017 season ended early with a significant foot injury, but it sounds like he may be ahead of schedule in his recovery.

According to ESPN’s Paut Gutierrez, Penn is in attendance at Raiders OTAs and already working out in his familiar spot on the left side of the offensive line:

“Donald Penn, who Tweeted yesterday about his “comeback” from Lisfranc surgery, is lined up at left tackle with the first team offense at the start of OTAs. The Raiders drafted Kolton Miller out of UCLA with the No. 15 overall pick as Penn’s heir apparent.”

The aforementioned tweet came from Penn’s verified Twitter account on Monday.

Another familiar face, however, will most likely not be reporting to OTA sessions.

As of now, Khalil Mack remains away from the Raiders as his agent continues to negotiate what is expected to be the richest contract ever given to a defensive player.

The date to watch with Khalil Mack (if a new deal still isn’t reached) is June 12, which is the first day of Raiders’ mandatory mini camp.

  1. That particular foot injury of his is no joke, especially for such a large human being. It’s very good news if his foot is healing and holding up OK.

  2. You’ve just got to LOVE Chucky. Penn looks like his old monster self and now with the addition of Hackenberg Derrick will have competition within a couple years at most. Nothing’s a given with Jon and you better believe he’ll field the best 53 players on the current roster as well as anyone else he can bring in to contribute (Kenricks? if we can afford it). But, he’ll get the best out of all of them.

It’s really exciting to be a life long Raiders fan again.
