The Pete Carroll era in Las Vegas appears to be down its final days and based on the way former first-round pick Tyree Wilson was used on Sunday, his time with the Raiders might be short, as well.
In his three years with the Raiders, Tyree Wilson has yet to live up to the expectations of a seventh-overall pick, and on Sunday against the Eagles, he played only six defensive snaps.
Pro Football Focus gave Wilson a game grade of 30.4 against the Eagles, and that was his lowest PFF grade of the season.
Wilson played a season high 57 defensive snaps in week 7 against the Chiefs but has watched his role shrink as the season has progressed.
In the three games prior to the Eagles, Wilson was already averaging fewer than 20 snaps per game (17,21,17).
As many have pointed out, it’s going to be difficult to evaluate players over the final month of the season because the team seems to have largely accepted its fate. Several players appeared to check out against the Eagles and that might have been a dynamic veteran defensive tackle Adam Butler talked about after the game.
“I would definitely say there is probably too many people talking and not enough people doing,” Butler told Sports Illustrated insider Hondo Carpenter.
“As a leader, I just try to show the young guys what to do. How to play the run, how to play the pass, how to be a smart football player. That’s all I can do. I’ve learned very quickly through this season that you can only control what you can control. You can’t control other people’s job or what anybody else is doing. The only thing you can focus on is you. I try to focus on being a leader to the young guys that look up to me.”
Butler’s comments got a lot of attention after Sunday’s game, but it was former tight end Rob Gronkowski who probably best summed up the situation.
“When you play the Raiders it’s like putting Neosporin on your cuts. They heal those wounds, Gronkowski said on the FOX broadcast.
Safe to say… Gronkowski wasn’t wrong.

Absolute bust.
Davante & Tyree. Great draft McDaniels
Amen!
Tyree is Sadly just one of the many draft bust the Raiders have had over the last quarter century. I’ve said many times, that with all of the coach and GM changes, the Raiders have been the worst drafting period over this period.
