Hunter Renfrow was one of the most popular receivers the Raiders have run onto the field in recent years, but his career came to an abrupt halt after a disappointing 2023 season, and some believed the 29-year-old wide receiver might be calling it quits.
Not much was heard from Renfrow in his year away from football, and a rumor started this week that the former fifth-round pick was going to announce his retirement.
But according to Renfrow himself, he isn’t done playing football and has been working out for the last two months as he prepares for his next opportunity in the NFL.
“Just when I thought about making a comeback I get hit with this bombshell…… guess I shouldn’t have started working out again 2 months ago lol,” Renfrow posted on social media.
Renfrow has been private about what kept him away from football in 2024, but it is known that several teams were interested in signing him a year ago.
Maybe Renfrow was using the last 12 months to get healthy, but it definitely sounds like will be among the free agent wide receiver options at the start of the new league year.
Just a guess, but he will probably be a candidate to go to wherever Derek Carr plays in 2025, and he most likely won’t be joining Josh McDaniels in New England.
Again, those are just guesses… but with a heavy dose of common sense applied.

While not only being arguably the best player on the Raiders in 21 Hunter was one of the most dedicated and toughest go to guys in the league, targeted and received among the highest percentage yet in 22 and 23 he was basically ignored for his efforts with McDouche and the coddling of POS Divinte who was anything but a dedicated teammate and a prima donna, good riddance we’ve bailed on those cancers just like the jets jettisoned the punk this week!!! Hunter deserves better treatment from the Raiders and the Raider Nation loves him dearly, so listen up bowl cut boy, do what your father Al would do ..the right thing and sign him back up before somebody in the AFC West does and embarrasses us with his acquisition!!!
