Maxx Crosby’s new deal with the Raiders was announced on Wednesday and the face of the franchise, whose future appeared to be in doubt a few months ago, is now under contract with the Raiders for the next five years.
As his contract stands now, Crosby won’t hit free agency until 2030, when he is 33 years old.
It wasn’t a surprise that Crosby and the Raiders reached a new deal, but at least one (and probably only one) league commenter thinks the Raiders paid too much for their superstar defensive end.
Co-hosting The Herd with Colin Cowherd on Wednesday, Jason McIntyre gave an awful take on the Raiders’ decision to extend Crosby’s contract.
“You’re paying him like he’s one of the best players in the league. He’s really good but come on. He’s not even… is he top five at his position?” McIntyre asked.

For what it’s worth, we have known for a while that McIntyre, and Colin Cowherd for that matter, don’t know much about the Raiders.
More than two months into the 2024 season, Cowherd and McIntyre both didn’t realize Christian Wilkins was on the Raiders. They were previewing a Dolphins game in the second week of November trying to figure out if Wilkins was going to be available for the game.
To his credit, Cowherd seems to understand the value of Crosby, but his buddy on the show is as clueless as ever when it comes to the Raiders.

Those two obviously don’t understand the impact that a player like Mad Max has on the locker room, and how a good locker room makes teams perform. He played half the season with a serious ankle injury, when a lot of players would have quit with their awful record.
