Gruden Gets To Meet His Players And What Ever Happened To Junior Galette?

Good Monday morning to all. A couple silver and black thoughts to get your week started…

The Raiders reportedly brought in former Saints and Redskins pass rusher Junior Galette for a visit on Friday.

Galette, 30, was with the Redskins last year after Achilles injuries ended both his 2015 and 2016 seasons.

Galette is an interesting option for the Raiders after being with Jon Gruden’s brother the past two years. Also interesting in the fact that Jay Gruden’s Redskins aren’t bringing Galette back despite having the cap room to re-sign him.

Among those lobbying to sign Galette should probably be Raiders left tackle Donald Penn.

Galette has some legal issues that come with his name, but after releasing Aldon Smith, maybe the Raiders have a void to fill in that respect.

Monday is the big day for Jon Gruden to finally be able to meet with his players and no one has more on the line right now than Khalil Mack.

Will he show up for offseason activities without a new deal?

If Mack does show up, Gruden should be very pleased because the league’s best defensive player (arguably) has every reason to avoid risking injury with his new deal so close to coming together.

Derek Carr is very familiar with his new head coach. This friendly stare-down will probably be reciprocated sooner than later.

Gruden is one of the best communicators in the business, but his offensive unit has only 22 weeks to learn his new offense.

That will be a challenge, because some in the building couldn’t seem to figure out Todd Downing’s offense.

Leading the charge among Gruden’s critics has to be RotoWorld’s Evan Silva. If you are looking for company to complain about Gruden, Silva is your guy.

But fair warning – once upon a time, Evan loved Hue Jackson and bashed Reggie McKenzie at every opportunity. Now he seems to loathe Jackson and McKenzie isn’t quite the easy target after being named NFL executive of the year just over a year ago.

Despite a rough 2017 season, Raider fans seem to be OK with McKenzie – it’s Jack Del Rio and his staff that don’t seem to be aging well.

Marshawn Lynch is a man of the people. Just for fun, a twitter search from a few weeks ago proves he also dwells among the people.

Happy offseason activities, everyone!

Just 150 days until the 2018 season opener.
