Monday was a busy day for news on the Raiders, and probably the biggest development of the day was a report that Jakobi Meyers has requested a trade.
Meyers and the Raiders have been working on a contract extension for months and it became clear this month that frustration was building on the part of Meyers.
Meyers has been quiet during contract negotiations but last week Vegas beat writer Levi Damien asked the veteran wide receiver how much he would like to remain with the team after the season, and Meyers’ response was notable.
“As much as they want me here,” Meyers said. “That’s really all I can say about that.”
There are plenty of reasons to believe Meyers will end up working out an agreement with the Raiders, but Raider Nation Radio host Q Myers brought up two scenarios on Tuesday where he could see Meyers being granted a trade.
“Pete Carroll has pounded the table about [how] he wants to win right now. This is not something he’s trying to build up to a three, four-year deal before they have a chance to win. He wants to win now. And if that’s what you’re trying to do, Jakobi Meyers is your best option,” Myers said on the Locked on Raiders podcast.
“The only way I could see a trade happening is if John Spytek and Pete Carroll aren’t on the same page,” Myers continued. “They’ve been on the same page from what I know since they joined the team together back in January. As far as I’m concerned, they’ve been in lockstep with each other.”
“Obviously, I’m not in the room. I’m not hearing the conversations. I don’t know that, but we haven’t heard any rumblings that they’re not on the same page and that they both share the same plans and the same ideologies. And again, Pete Carroll has come out many times and said, ‘I’m ready to win right now.’ So if they’re not on the same page, if they’re not seeing eye to eye in the expectations for 2025 and how they’re going to get to becoming a winning organization, that’s the way I could see a trade happening.”
Additionally, Myers said there’s another scenario where the Raiders could end up being traded, but it would be something that could potentially develop during the season.
“The other way I could see a trade happening is if the Raiders get off to a terrible start and right before the trade deadline, they say, ‘Yeah, this season is not going the way we thought it was going to go. Let’s go ahead and get some good some draft capital in return and continue to try to build that team.'” Myers said.
“Those are the two ways I could see Jacoby Meyers getting traded. But all in all, I don’t think it’s going to happen.”
It’s a lot of speculation at this point, but it has been rumored that Carroll wants to get Meyers’ contract situation resolved before the start of the season. Myers used a little common sense to reach that conclusion, but there’s a good chance that if the Raiders are without their no. 1 wide receiver at any point during the season, it won’t be the fault of Carroll.
The power structure in Las Vegas is a little different for Carroll than what it was for him in Seattle, so it will be interesting to see how situations play out where Carroll and Spytek aren’t entirely on the same page.
That said, if Carroll wants Meyers to be in a good place contractually before the start of the season, there’s a good chance the sides are going to figure something out.

I sure hope the Raiders don’t screw this up. You sign a guy to a 1yr deal who is 30plus, in favor of a WR who is 28. Not only that, look at the numbers Cooper had last year. Those numbers were horrible compared to Jacobi’s. Not only that, Jacobi had a lousy qb throwing him the ball compared to Cooper who had one of the top qb’s throwing him the ball. So in what world would you trade Jacobi and keep someone whose career is done?
Yes we need to win now I’ve been bleeding silver and black since seventy two haven’t been in the super blow since 1990 now is the time why not I’m 62 years old now that chucky guy destroyed my team.

He shouldn’t even been brought back anyways.
Mark Davis destroyed whatever was left of the team , after Al ran it into the ground.
