Host Shares What He is Hearing on the Raiders’ Top Trade Offers for Davante Adams

The Raiders are expected to grant Davante Adams a trade in a matter of days (or weeks), but for now, it seems like trade discussions around the star wide receiver have stalled.

The Raiders have reportedly been seeking a second-round pick in exchange for Adams and that’s a price that no one in the league has been willing to pay to this point.

The Jets and Saints looked to be in prime position to trade for Adams a week ago, but both teams suffered setbacks over the weekend, and a one-year rental for a star wide receiver wouldn’t make sense for a team that isn’t a safe bet to make the playoffs.

It will be interesting to see what the Raiders ultimately get for Adams, but to this point it sounds like trade offers around him have amounted to nothing more than a fourth-round pick.

“I’ve been told multiple times this year that the Raiders are asking for a second and that some of the offers that are coming in, I cannot say this loud enough, have been in the range of a fourth,” Yahoo and FOX Sports host Jason Fitz said this week on Raider Nation Radio’s The Morning Tailgate.

From the Raiders’ standpoint, the hope would be that someone will get desperate and offer a pick closer to their asking price.

The other bargaining chip the Raiders have is the threat of just keeping Adams on the roster for the remainder of the season.

Sports Illustrated insider Hondo Carpenter, among others, has been hinting that there was no resolution in sight between Adams and the Raiders, but that tone took a little shift on Thursday.

Hondo Carpenter on X (formerly Twitter): “While I would not characterize it as a PROBABILITY, after speaking to a source very close to the situation this morning, it is a POSSIBILITY that Davante Adams could stay with the Raiders for this season. Again, it is a POSSIBILITY, NOT A PROBABILITY. / X”

While I would not characterize it as a PROBABILITY, after speaking to a source very close to the situation this morning, it is a POSSIBILITY that Davante Adams could stay with the Raiders for this season. Again, it is a POSSIBILITY, NOT A PROBABILITY.

Most likely, trade discussions have cooled around Adams to the point that the Raiders are entering their own name in the mix as leverage, but a lot can change between now and the November 5 trade deadline.

Until then, the Raiders are on the hook for just under $1 million a week until Adams is off the roster.

That’s a tall price to pay for an improved draft pick, but if they land an impact player in the 2025 draft on account of their patience, maybe it will be worth it.

  1. The Raiders should just keep Adams for the remainder of the season then, when teams have more $, deal him in offseason. Not too many teams have that much free cap space during once the season starts.

  2. Don’t give in Raiders stick to the asking price if they’re desperate enough they’ll pay it, if not just keep him.

  3. At this point, it seems like the market is the market. If they’d more accurately evaluated their roster the past couple of offseasons, or maybe if the owner has allowed it, they might have gotten something better. Hard to see the offers going up with each fewer game he’d be available to a team… And it seems like the alternative is letting him go for nothing in a few months. Take the best offer from wherever it’s coming and everyone can move on.

  4. How much is he going to help a team when he isn’t on the field? The Jets should trade Haason Reddick to the Raiders since both aren’t playing right now.

  5. How in the hell is Adam’s not worth a 2nd round pick if there was a guy in the draft that everybody knew was gonna be that good he would be picked in the top 3 picks in first round
