Raiders Insider Believes There is a “General Consensus” on the Quarterback They Will Target in the Draft

Last year, everyone knew the quarterback the Raiders wanted to draft.

The Raiders were connected to LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels for months, but the Washington Commanders are believed to have turned down three first-round picks for the second-overall pick in the 2024 draft.

Las Vegas will be back in the market for a quarterback this year and there already seems to be a popular opinion on the quarterback they are going to target in the draft.

According to Sports Illustrated insider Hondo Carpenter, all signs as of now (his podcast was recorded the last week of November) are pointing to Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders being the quarterback at the top of the Raiders draft board.

“I think the general consensus in the National Football League and everywhere else is if [the Raiders] can maneuver to get Shedeur, it is going to be Shedeur,” Carpenter said on the Las Vegas Raiders Insider podcast.

“I’m not yet ready to call that pick,” he continued. “But I think I’m as confident in a November Pre-Thanksgiving pick as ever, that that’s going to be the guy they’re going after.”

Through 12 weeks of the season, the Raiders hold the second-overall pick in the draft, but there are four teams a game behind Las Vegas that have a weaker strength of schedule. That means another win could drop the Raiders as far as the seventh pick.

Many believe Sanders will be the first overall pick in the draft, but there is also the added element of Deion Sanders with any team interested in drafting Shedeur. Deion has clearly stated in the last year that there are teams he does not want Shedeur to play for.

The Jaguars (2-10) are likely to draft ahead of the Raiders, but Jacksonville doesn’t necessarily need a quarterback, and most believe they would take Colorado WR/CB Travis Hunter if they have the opportunity.

The Giants (2-10) have the same record as the Raiders and will definitely be a team in the market for a quarterback in the offseason.

The Jets (3-9) are expected to move on from Aaron Rodgers when the season is over, and that makes them a strong candidate to prioritize the quarterback position in the offseason, as well.

The Titans (3-9) and Panthers (3-9) are two more teams that might be tempted to draft a quarterback. Both have invested in young quarterbacks and the next five weeks will go a long way toward determining their level of commitment to those quarterbacks.

  1. Hey here’s an idea, Fire AP and get a new coach in ASAP and have him, Tom and Tom strategize on the plan, you got a good QB in Aiden, develop him!

  2. The Raiders need to trade the #1 to get the #1 pick from the Giants or another loser team to vie for the Arch Manning sweepstakes which will happen in 2026 in all likelihood. He’s 10x the QB that Sanders or even Jayden Daniels.

  3. “Many believe “, shows just how ignorant so many undeserving of a platform are.
And furthermore, people employed in evaluating personnel.

  4. If the raiders draft that joke of a Q they will be completely destroyed for the next ten years.

  5. If there are QB needy teams wanting to move up to number one as well as the top few teams behind them needing QBs. The Jags can trade back a few places, still get hunter and pick up a pick or two while doing it. A QB picking team is going to move to number one, so saying who the Raiders will get and who they want are not the same thing.

  6. Raiders should NOT sign Shedeur Sanders. Most his completions are short passed. Daddy Deion bis hyping his son. Don’t go for it.
