Unless something changes dramatically in the next few months, the Raiders are going to enter the offseason with a desperate situation at the quarterback position.
The Raiders kicked around the possibility of a few aggressive moves for a quarterback last year, but the result was a quarterback competition between Aidan O’Connell and Gardner Minshew that seems like it might never be settled.
One quarterback we know the Raiders wanted in the draft last year was Heisman-winner Jayden Daniels, but the Washington Commanders weren’t interested in trading the second-overall pick.
No one has gone on record to say what the Raiders offered the Commanders for the right to draft Daniels, but it sounds like it might have been a massive proposal.
“Word on the street, and none of us will ever know, but word on the street was that last year the Raiders were one of a couple of teams that offered as many as three first-rounders to move up for Jayden Daniels, and they were told ‘No,'” Fitz said last week on Raider Nation Radio’s The Morning Tailgate.
Fitz was clear that his information was just “word on the street” but it’s worth noting that a voice within the Raider organization actually hinted at the same trade offer in September.
According to Raider Nation Radio host JT the Brick, Daniels was not available to the Raiders for 3 first-round picks.
How would anyone know this if the proposed trade was never sent?
We’re only five weeks into the NFL season, but Daniels is currently the favorite to win the league’s Rookie of the Year award.
Last year, the Raiders and Commanders both had a 3-5 record after 8 games, but the Commanders finished off the season by losing 8 of their last 9 games.
The Raiders fired head coach Josh McDaniels after their 3-5 start and won 5 of their next 9 games under interim head coach Antonio Pierce. In doing so they lost any opportunity to draft one of the top quarterbacks in the draft.

This team has been trash since the early 80s.
I think it’s time to let the NFL/Raiders go and focus solely on the NBA.
Bummer, he is an all around good qb and we haven’t seen anything yet. Well we got rid of Humpty Dumpty garrapolo and old dude peterman. So now we are stuck with Minshew and O’Connell yikes! Maybe Mark Davis should raise the ticket. Prices since they already the highest in the NFL with an inferior product. No I think I will skip the overpriced tickets and jacked up weekend hotel rates and fly to Cancun for a week. I will be at least guaranteed a lot of fun. That’s how I roll Mr Davis and Mr Telesco. Not your fault AP just keep up your spirit.
