Josh Jacobs Names Former Raiders Teammate as “Most Underrated” NFL Player

Josh Jacobs is no longer with the Raiders, but he offered high praise this week for one of his former teammates in Las Vegas.

As a guest of social media personality Zias on Wednesday, Jacobs was asked which player in the NFL is the most underrated.

“There’s a lot of people that be cold that really don’t get a chance to showcase what they can do,” Jacobs said.

“I would say [who] shocked me the most, especially on a day to day basis… was Jakobi Meyers. He had no drops last year… when you see him at practice, he works. He do the grunt work. He don’t care. He don’t complain… He a real one.”

Not only did Meyers not drop a pass all year, he tallied a career high 87 receptions and posted the first 1,000-yard season of his career – and did it all despite instability at the quarterback position and a fired offensive coordinator at the midpoint of the season.

According to NFL insider Mike Silver, the 49ers reached out to the Raiders about a trade for Meyers during the 2024 offseason, but former GM Tom Telesco wasn’t interested.

In August, Sports Illustrated insider Hondo Carpenter called Meyers the best offensive player at Raiders’ training camp and compared his camp efforts to what he watched from Calvin Johnson in Detroit.

Looking ahead, Meyers is a candidate to get a contract extension, and at the rate things are going he might be in line for a new deal ahead of Geno Smith.

  1. Devin White is an AWFUL signing. Spytek is a joke.

I watch every Eagles game. This dude didn’t play a single game this year I don’t think he played even a single snap for the Eagles.

Got beat out by a rookie in training camp.

    Spytek IS A JOKE!

  2. Well IDK…about that PhillyRaider, he might have something left that they can motivate. the physical talent is there and the winning habit/ culture from TB and Eagles is there-, the biggest issue is the motivation; when Al was there the culture had a place for older, so-called ‘washed up’ veterans and ex-stars and his staff/ Al knew how to motivate them. I don’t think this regime cares about that- they signed him as a cheap veteran to help get the LB unit playing well. They aren’t gonna nurse and try to motivate or give him time to get his game back- No, they’re gonna play him and they paid him to be a good player now! And hopefully he plays well but that’s one reason why the “new”
Raiders aren’t winning like they used to! They don’t try new things.

But to put down Spytek now!? I think this is a corporate machine that is about money first, and they do things in a corporate way. They are letting two inexperience guys run the front office and it’s like this is supposed to be a winning program! You’re right that maybe this isn’t such a good/ great regime but it’s not just Spytek, its’ a lot of people who are not doing much to take us back to past glory or build a good team.

    1. The new Raiders have been terrible since Reggie about this team! for some reason Raidernation doesn’t seem to think Al did anything right over that nine year losing streak. But if you look at the teams of all the regimes his was the most solid, talented and playoff ready- only a few of the new regime’s teams were better but none had the solid rosters that he had.
Al had/ tried to build the secondary. Now, the Steelers have their LBs, 49ers’ their WRs/ TEs’, Dallas-their DLs’ but the new regimes don’t build the secondary. it used to mean a lot but now its just a unit. What makes them think they can build one without elite/ star players? We need a top/ elite CB to put with J. Jones! This cheap system needs to be questioned and Raidernation need to stop being conned. If they could motivate/ coach up a team of average-good players then we could be o.k. with them- we wouldn’t need to question them- they would be doing a better job and showing results not hyping their product and giving media and fans more questions and have more support/ positive comments

    2. There is NO PHYSICAL TALENT IN DEVIN WHITE.

He didn’t play a single snap for the Eagles last season after he lost his job in training camp to a ROOKIE.

This was an AWFUL SIGNING BY SPYTEK just like most of his other signings have been.
