The Raiders are desperate for a win this week and former color analyst for the team, Lincoln Kennedy, was asked on Thursday who needs to play well for the Raiders to get back in the win column on Sunday.
Kennedy’s response to Locked on Raiders podcast co-host Shantelle Chand was a little surprising – even if it was unfortunately true.
He essentially called out everyone on the team.
“That’s a good one. Where can I put the blame… We’ve called out the secondary. There’s been times in the past we’ve been critical [of] the offensive line,” Kennedy said.
“Look, this team is not very good. I’m just going to call it right now. It’s not very good. It’s not a good team. You’ve got good pieces, but it’s not a good team. What I think could be unfair at times is to call out individuals when you don’t have a good team effort. I need those individuals to rise up and be a better teammate. Whomever it is…”
“But I’m saying that everyone on this team needs to know how to be a better individual to become a better teammate, to where this team can find a way to win. So I’m calling out everybody.”
At different points in the first five weeks, every position group on the team has been a disappointment, and if the Raiders can’t get it together at home against the 1-4 Tennessee Titans, it will be a new low for the organization.
From the outside, it doesn’t appear Pete Carroll is losing the locker room, but if results don’t start coming soon, players are going to start checking out on the season – and, in fact, one already has.
Germaine Pratt was the first player on the team that was apparently checked out on the season – or at least wasn’t ready to be part of the solution.
“Germaine Pratt’s gone. People wonder why… Germaine Pratt was not all in. He was a really difficult player to handle recently. Very difficult to handle,” ‘JT the Brick’ said on his Raider Nation Radio show this week.
“He’s no longer with the team. Just like if you worked in an accounting firm, a law firm, you worked at a grocery store in the back, whatever you did, if you were really difficult to work with, you would not be there. Period.”
“I don’t know what they do in the locker room. I’m not in the locker room, but if you’re not going to handle your business… Pete Carroll is the essence of handle your business like a grown-*** man. If you get cut from Pete Carroll’s team, it’s pretty obvious why you got cut. You’re not all in. And not everybody can be all in.”
