The Raiders host the Chargers on Sunday and it will be the second biggest game the Raiders have played in a decade.
Asked this week who he thought was going to have a big game against the Chargers, Raiders’ color commentator Lincoln Kennedy offered an unlikely candidate.
“I think it’s Zay Jones. I really do,” Kennedy said on 920 AM Raider Nation Radio’s In The Huddle.
“You know what you get out of Hunter Renfrow. If Darren Waller comes back, obviously you know what you can have out of him. [Zay Jones] opened up the possibilities last week in the Indianapolis game. He showcased what he can do. I think you saw times even in the Dallas game when he made some big catches. I think it’s a time for him to have a big breakout game.”
Jones has enjoyed an uptick in targets in recent weeks and seems to have developed into one of Derek Carr’s trusted targets.
Add Renfrow and (hopefully) a healthy Waller to the mix and the Raiders should have enough offensive firepower to keep up with the Chargers even if the game turns into a shootout.

Good point by Kennedy. Hopefully, Zay can develop that game in and out consistently. I think Richard, as a pass catcher out of the backfield, could reap benefits for the team. He had some good plays against the Colts. But most importantly , I hope the OL has a solid outing and can give Carr the time needed to allow plays to develop. They had a great game against the Colts and seem to be jelling as a unit,
I’ve always been a fan of Lincoln Kennedy’s since his playing days & as commentator I’ve always appreciated his no nonsense honesty & matter of fact cementation. I sincerely hope he’s right.
Honestly I don’t care who gets it done. If it’s Zay Jones, awesome. We just need to win! I’m just so tired of the motto “wait until next year”! Go Raiders, PLEASE!
Iam with you why wait till next season the win is ther for the taking
The Chargers can’t win on the road. Look at there record. The Raiders win this one.
Personally I think nobody’s thinking about DeSean Jackson and he’s the one that’s going to have his Raider Moment! Something in the 110 yards receiving and 1 maybe 2 TD’s!!
Agree, he’s not on anyone’s radar
I hope he’s right, both to win the game and provide some stability at WR in the upcoming year. If Jones steps up, then between Renfrow, Waller, and Jones the Raiders will be in good position for WR/TE starters in the draft. This will allow the Raiders to focus on other positions of need (OL?) in the draft and just be opportunistic in targeting receivers.
