Looking Back, Key Coaches Decision Suggests Raiders Saw Something Coming with Davante Adams

It looks like Davante Adams is short on time in Las Vegas, and if he has played his last game in Silver & Black, should his departure be considered more of the same old Raiders?

Bill Williamson is one of the longest-tenured beat writers covering the Raiders and he posted on today’s news around Adams, calling it “disappointing” and “chaos bubbling over.”

Bill Williamson on X (formerly Twitter): “Pierce was supposed to provide stability. A month in though the same old #Raiders chaos is bubbling over. It’s not out of control yet, but it has to be a disappointing start for those who expected better leadership. / X”

Pierce was supposed to provide stability. A month in though the same old #Raiders chaos is bubbling over. It’s not out of control yet, but it has to be a disappointing start for those who expected better leadership.

It will be interesting to see how the Adams saga plays out, but he will almost certainly be traded ahead of the deadline, and probably much sooner.

There might be some disappointment within the organization, but don’t be surprised if this was a situation the team saw coming well in advance.

The chances of Adams being traded ahead of the deadline were always there, and some believe it was one of the reasons why head coach Antonio Pierce didn’t publicly announce team captains. If Adams is traded, the Raiders will not have traded away one of their captains.

Not much was made of it at the time, but was it coincidence that Adams wasn’t a part of this group on opening day against the Chargers?

Vincent Bonsignore on X (formerly Twitter): “The @Raiders captains for the toss are Crosby, Spillane, Minshew, and Cole. / X”

The @Raiders captains for the toss are Crosby, Spillane, Minshew, and Cole.

Additionally, are we sure the locker room views Adams as one of the “all in” leaders of the team?

Maybe they do, but we’ll probably hear more on that dynamic down the road.

Ultimately, the fan base might be surprised by the reports of the day, but the coaches and locker room were probably well ahead of the curve on this one.

  1. I don’t blame Davante,it’s not the same regime.. He’s a winner and unfortunately Raider’s have been a dumpster fire for over 23 yrs now..It wa under the stupid idiot Al Davis and continues with his idiot son.
The Raiders history is what old fans hang their heart on.

Until the owner dies, hopefully soon or sells the drama will continue.
AP is not the brightest or experienced HC,he’ll be fired this yr or next.
Maxx will be eventually be traded too
This franchise and the beat writers are trash and garbage!!

    1. Al Davis is objectively on the Mount Rushmore of the most influential people in NFL history. But to hope for the death of anyone for some nonsense like “the team might be better” just says that you need to be better.

      1. No…Rick is right. Anyone who knows the Raiders history, like I do, and apparently like Rick does…(meaning Raider fans since the 60s) knows the decline of the Raiders began in the late 80s, and, but for a short resurgence under Gruden’s first tenure, (which was ruined by, guess who…Al Davis) the Raiders have been trash to mediocre ever since. Sure Al Davis deserves accolades for being responsible for the greatness they maintained during the 60s, 70s, and 80s, but like I said, it was the late 80s the team turned to trash, and Al Davis is 100% responsible for it. Of course Mark Davis has no clue, that’s for sure. So it’s another year and another trash team. Go Raiders.

    2. Ouch! Lot of hate going on here. Raider Nation lives strong! No other team takes as much haye and still has a loyal fan base. Not many teams jave won 3 Super Bowls either. If that’s trash, your not a fan.

  2. Wow!!!!! That was mouthful of hate ,( maybe jealous? I don’t know or care!) but if you dislike the owner do much? Why are you commenting? Obviously your not raider nation! So most people don’t care about,( your care and concern for the raiders)!?!!!

  3. Adam’s came to play with Carr. When McDaniels did Carr the way they did him Adam’s could not have been happy. They still have not replaced Carr with a legit NFL QB. On top of that, players, including Adam’s stepped up on support of Pierce to be HC. Now Pierce does a BS high school move by liking a post on social media about trading Adam’s. I wish Adam’s the best, I’ve been a Raider fan since 1976 and the organization is not the one I once knew.

  4. I agree with you Richard they should trade Adam’s he’s been whinning since he arrived in Vegas good by Adam’s and good luck

  6. If that’s the case, why didn’t they trade him in the offseason when they surely would have gotten a better offer for a full season than what they’ll get now? I don’t believe the captain thing had anything to do with it. I think it was a combination of Mark Davis not accepting anything but trying to win now, and the organization overrating their own chances. Again. They wouldn’t part with Adams when it would have made more sense, because they thought they needed him to accomplish their goals for this season.

  7. Davante is really good and with Rodgers they won alot of reg season games and couple of postseason. Don’t remember them getting past nfc championship. Winner is kind of stretch. Trade him get a few picks. Been listening to this ish for 2 yrs.

  8. Rick – it’s hand your “hat” on not heart. Also AP is not getting fired this year or next and I’d publicly place that bet. Maxx is one of the best defenders in the NFL and his next contract will be a fortune so he might eventually many get traded, yes. Very Nostradamus of you, Ol Wise One.

Richard – you are right, Rick does seem like he’s harboring a lot of hatred. It’s “you’re” not your – and he is definitely not jealous of us nor is he in Raider Nation. No chance. I’ve been a fan since 1990 and I wish there were more prideful years but there have been 3-4 in 34 and the only Super Bowl appearance in that stretch may be the most embarrassing game during that whole stretch. Most painful was easily the Snow Bowl which I got to see dumb *** Gruden allow NE clear the ground off for Vinatierri – man have we had some bad coaches. I can honestly say Antonio Pierce is my favorite and exactly what real Raiders fan wanna see more of. Give this dude the keys. Gonna take time but I’m all in with AP way of building and motivating!

  9. First off all you Raider Haters lucky I’m not sitting in Mark Davis seat cuz I wouldn’t give a **** how many times Aaron Rodgers Jets called, or Carr and his Saints called. Or anybody else for that matter cuz I got the best receiver in the league on my team and they don’t. So f%$k what they want … nobody ever gives us no gifts like a R.Moss for my Brady like the snow job never happened. Or to just give our coach away for 2 first round busts and some money for reasons not of our own. Forget what every body else wants for once. **** you got a kid on the sideline rn that was winning big games for us down the stretch last year cuz he had a receiver named Davante and Jacoby n them helping him learn the game fast who has all the tools we need in a qb but instead we just went this minshew project for God knows why really. But get your head out of your *** and everybody else’s Davis. We got the best … don’t do nothing and let them all wish they had it and kiss our *** for once.

  10. A good head coach knows how to evaluate talent. Spending over $20 million on DT Wilkins is a sign Pierce does not have the talent to evaluate talent. A good OC knows how to utilize talent that is on the field. The lack of utilizing Davante Adam’s is a sign the Raiders do not have a good offensive coordinator. I am nearly 50 years and I am a Raider fan and always will be. However until I see a better product on the field, I will no go to a game nor purchase Raiders merchandise any longer. Criticizing the team does not mean you hate. On the contrary it shows you care and support the team. Mark needs to seek the team. Maybe Tom Brady and partners can make a bid because if not we will see the same pathetic product in which currently can’t stop any running attack or can’t run the ball ourselves.

  11. Wow, someone commented wishing for “the owners death…soon.” Really?! It’s a game…a game for which YOU ARE NOT GETTING PAID. How insignificant you must feel. 😔 Get a life!
