Raiders Looking for 2nd-Round Pick and More for Davante Adams, Team to Watch Might Be Commanders

“As of right now I don’t see the Raiders trading Davante Adams,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter said on Monday on the Pat McAfee Show.

On Tuesday, Schefter reported the trade terms the Raiders are looking for in exchange for Adams.

“[The] Raiders have informed other teams that they would ‘consider’ trading WR Davante Adams for a package that would include a second-round pick and additional compensation,” Schefter tweeted on Monday, barely 24 hours after his appearance with McAfee.

That’s the speed the NFL moves in the modern era, and it looks like Adams could have a new team by the end of the week.

We know the Chiefs are in the market for a wide receiver, but there’s no way the Raiders are sending Adams to Kansas City. The Raiders won’t want to send him to the Jets, either.

A team to watch on Adams, though, might be a team that was mentioned before the start of the season. At the time, the fit didn’t seem great. Now the fit is looking a lot better.

“I think the Raiders are going to be a bad football team and while I don’t think the Commanders, I don’t have them as a playoff team, I think by mid-season they will have won enough games and seen enough with Jayden Daniels where they want to invest in [Davante Adams] mid-season,” ESPN’s Mina Kimes said on the Dominique Foxworth Show at the beginning of the month.

“The thing about Davante Adams… his contract is, I think, very attractive to a team that wants to keep him around for some time,”Kimes continued. “It’s very tradable. It’s $35 million a year after this season, but that’s all salary, so you could trade for him [and] restructure and keep him in the building for a long time.”

Wherever Adams ends up, it would be nice to see the Raiders set their sights a little higher than a second-round pick. If nothing else, the hot market for his services should drive the price up and a second-round pick, even with additional compensation, seems a little low.

NBA star Damian Lillard would agree.

  1. I don’t care if he is 31 get a first round pick not a second round pick unless we get both

  2. Another wasted opportunity blown by the Raiders. You have 1 of the best receivers in football on your roster and get nothing done but sign Minshew, Gardner Minshew!!!!

    1. Let me guess, bring back Garropolo? I think they were looking to draft Penix. But who else was available at QB?

    1. I think that’s the deal they are looking for, especially a starting Olineman to be included in the deal.
