One Aggravated Exchange Apparently Pushed Mark Davis to Fire Josh McDaniels and Name Antonio Pierce Interim Head Coach

Josh McDaniels is going to go down as one of the worst coaches in Raiders’ history and a comment he made in his final week with the team will be one that Raider fans remember him by.

Jay Glazer reported the story on FOX NFL Sunday

“Antonio Pierce got up there, he said ‘Look guys, we have to have our own culture. It’s got to be about our culture here. He brought up the old Giants team that beat the Patriots, Josh McDaniels team, in the Super Bowl in the 2007 season.

He said ‘No matter who we played, we thought we could beat them. We had a game plan that we could be them. We had to believe that and that’s not here. We have to believe it here at the Raiders. We can beat anybody…

When he finished that speech, everyone [thought] it was great except for Josh McDaniels. Josh McDaniels then goes over to him and says ‘Don’t ever talk about the Patriots like that’ and then you really saw how divided that building got. That got up to Mark Davis and [Davis said] ‘I’m going to choose the guy who believes we can win every single week…”

For the conspiracy theorists who believe McDaniels was planted in Las Vegas to sabotage the Raiders, this story isn’t going to change any minds.

In fact, there are probably a few more believers today.

Unlike Rich Bisaccia, who never felt like ownership took him seriously as a replacement for Jon Gruden, Glazer said that Pierce has a real shot to win the head coaching job in Las Vegas if he is able to turn the season around.

  1. Forget the conspiracy ****, anything Patriots associated with Raiders is a unqualified JINX! Mc-Disaster never a true Raider, players hated him. His play calling worse than awful and as Davis said.. a mistake! jv

  2. I never liked him and never wanted him. He was nothing more than a toxic hyped up and over rated offensive coordinator. He benifited from the Belichick, Brady, and the NFL looking out for Kraft for not suiting them for tampering to have Bill Parcells coach the Jets. Bottom line!!!
