ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler Offers “Hot Seat” Buzz on Raiders, Pete Carroll

Are the Raiders going to move on from Pete Carroll after just one season?

It seemed unthinkable a few weeks ago, but momentum is not moving in a good direction for Carroll, and many believe the Raiders will consider a change at head coach at the end of the season.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Carroll is a “name to monitor” in the weeks ahead, but Fowler does not believe Carroll would simply walk away from the situation in Las Vegas.

“Carroll is a name to monitor because the Raiders are clearly in rebuilding mode from a roster/talent standpoint. At 74, he is in it to win now and to prove that he’s capable of turning around an organization. Those plans aren’t meshing. I don’t necessarily see him walking away, though he’s clearly not getting what he signed up for in January,” Fowler reported on Wednesday.

“So, a question of whether the Raiders should reset and continue the rebuild with another coach is worth asking. At least the Raiders have pillars such as Brock Bowers, Maxx Crosby and Ashton Jeanty for a hopeful turnaround in 2026.”

“Either way, something has to change with the offense and playcaller Chip Kelly, whose name could surface for college jobs again. The 30th-ranked offense is a tough watch, especially when it involves the act of handing off the ball.”

From the outside, it seems like it has all but been determined that Kelly won’t be back next year, but Carroll’s future with the organization will be a more complicated decision.

Carroll is one of the most respected head coaches in the NFL and it wouldn’t be the greatest look for the Raiders to fire three coaches in three years, with the last being a future Hall of Fame head coach.

  1. I don’t know how anyone could defend Carroll or any other coach on this staff, they all need to be fired.

  2. Fire Carol in the whole staff get your hands on Shula from the Rams and use your 1st pick on Archie Manning
