Most of the trade speculation around the Raiders over the last few weeks has revolved around Maxx Crosby and Jakobi Meyers, but Raider Nation Radio host Q Myers said last week he wouldn’t be surprised if Jackson Powers-Johnson ends up in that conversation, as well.
“I’m not reporting anything. But Jackson Powers Johnson, you saw him get benched on Sunday. You saw them bring in Alex Cappa. And look, JPJ was having a rough day. I don’t blame them for sitting them down, but we all know how it’s gone all year with JPJ,” Myers said on the Locked on Raiders podcast after the Chiefs game.
“Something has not been right. There’s been a disconnect between him and the team somehow. The coaching staff, whatever. I don’t know where the root of that is,” Myers continued. “I don’t know who is not a big JPJ fan. To me, he’s one of the best offense alignments that they have outside of Kolton Miller.”
Trade rumors around Powers-Johnson have been quiet in recent days, but according to Sports Illustrated insider Albert Breer, there is a trade market for the former second-round pick.
“Guard Jackson Powers-Johnson has drawn interest,” Breer reported on Friday, adding that Powers-Johnson “has had his fits and starts with the new staff, so there’s a possibility he’ll get moved.”
It’s been a strange year and a half for Powers-Johnson since being drafted in the second round of the 2024 draft, and for reasons no one seems to know, he hasn’t been a great fit for the Pete Carroll regime in Las Vegas.
Earlier in the week, former Raiders’ offensive lineman Marshall Newhouse talked about the dynamic between Powers-Johnson and the coaching staff, and like many others, he still hasn’t figured out what the coaching staff is trying to do with the player that’s arguably the second-best offensive lineman on the roster.
“I think there’s a valid criticism about Pete’s language when it comes to personnel,” Newhouse said on the Just Win podcast.
“We talked about JPJ earlier with Alex Cappa, and people are just trying to figure out why he’s doing the things he’s doing, picking fights in certain places that don’t seem to be need fights and friction and other places not seemingly taking them as serious as other ones.”
The trade deadline is Tuesday, November 4, so it’s possible the Raiders want to take one more swing at turning the season around before making any significant changes to the roster.
From the outside, one of the more confusing details around Powers-Johnson this year is that he hasn’t been any worse than the rest of the offensive line. In fact, he’s the second-highest graded offensive lineman on the team by Pro Football Focus analytics.
There has to be more to the story and if Powers-Johnson is traded in the next few days, maybe we’ll learn more about what has been going on between him and the Raiders’ coaching staff going back to the first week of training camp.

RIP Mr. Atkinson, you will be missed.
This is why we never win. Only this team would get rid of the best O lineman on the team and keep a worthless scrub like Alex Cappa
Amen
Exactly. And Pete/Spytek if teams are calling you about a player that means he’s good
If it comes down to Pete or JPJ get rid of Pete. He’s brought nothing but old Seahawks that can’t play well. This was the reason Pete’s no longer in Seattle. Schneider has that team rolling ever since they forced Pete to finally leave. It’s not like JPJ is great at least not at guard, maybe he would be at Center his actual position. Meredith is a turnstile who either sucks at calling out the assignments or incorrectly blocks the wrong guy, not to mention the limited physical he brings in comparison to JPJ.
Amen my man… The SeaSlugs knew the Truth about Pete – We got a much lesser version….
Scr3w Pete Carroll, Junior Brennan (the non-existent O-Line Coach) and Spitek (if he is a part of this insanity)
This regime has brought the Raiders to a New level of Mediocrity and Even Evaluation Insanity. And to think I had High Hopes for this Loser Staff…
Seahawks are flourishing w/o him. Of course they upgraded their quarterback.
I’m hoping Spytek is like Mayock where he has no control, but he still has some talent
I have lost all hope in the Raiders, they do what they always do get rid of the young good players and bring in old players they traded draft picks away for a quarterback at the end of his career that led the league interceptions, here we are again same problem, what would the Raiders look like if they picked Jaxon Dart instead of Gentry, we would be a better team, our problem would be solved, Carol and his son needs to be the one to leave stop letting good players leave tired of seeing old players they’re at the end of their career, and as for JPJ what in the f*** are you thinking
