Raiders’ 2020 Draft Has Become A Bigger Disaster Than What Anyone Could Have Imagined

The Raiders have had a few unproductive drafts in their time, but their 2020 draft is turning into one of the worst nightmares imaginable.

One or two bright spots are still in the mix, but a handful of last year’s picks have done more damage to the organization than good.

Let’s review…

Henry Ruggs III (Round 1, pick 12 overall)

Ruggs was on his way to being a superstar in the NFL until the events of November 2, 2021. He has since been charged in the death of Tina Tintor after hitting her SUV with his Corvette at a speed of approximately 156 MPH. Ruggs, who was impaired by alcohol at the time of the accident, faces up to 46 years in jail.

Damon Arnette (Round 1, pick 19 overall)

Arnette hasn’t killed anyone, which is to his credit. But he has apparently been threatening to kill people.

The latest video of Arnette waving around what appears to be a semi-automatic weapon as he threatens to shoot someone was unsettling at best. Arnette also has two unrelated lawsuits filed against him at the moment and it’s anyone’s guess what he has been doing with the rest of his time.

What we do know, however, is that what little time he has been healthy, Arnette hasn’t played like a first-round pick.

Lynn Bowden Jr. (Round 3, pick 80 overall)

Bowden was present at the time of a drug raid just months after he was drafted. That probably didn’t impress the Raiders’ much at the time and they traded Bowden before he ever played a down in silver and black.

Bowden caught 28 passes for 211 yards in Miami last year as a rookie. He was placed on injured reserve before the 2021 season with a hamstring injury.

A hamstring injury isn’t a season-ending injury so the Dolphins basically stashed Bowden on injured reserve and will re-evaluate him again in a year.

Bryan Edwards (Round 3, pick 81 overall)

Edwards is easily the Raiders’ most encouraging pick from the 2020 draft. He is one of the high-character guys in the locker room and has 18 receptions for 346 yards this season. He has struggled at times to gain separation on routes, but the future is bright for Edwards, who turns 23 this week.

Tanner Muse (Round 3, pick 100 overall)

Muse didn’t play a single snap for the Raiders in his rookie season and was cut prior to the 2021 season. The good news is the Raiders’ official twitter account wished him happy birthday just hours after they released him on his birthday.

So that was nice.

John Simpson (Round 4, pick 109 overall)

Simpson is a starter, but when Richie Incognito returns, there is a good chance Simpson will return to a reserve role. Pro Football Focus has not been impressed with Simpson as a run blocker, nor have they been impressed with him as a pass blocker.

Amik Robertson (Round 4, pick 139 overall)

One of the most likeable players on the team, Robertson has the third-lowest defensive grade (Pro Football Focus) on the Raiders roster in front of only Kendal Vickers and… Damon Arnette.

  1. Like i said before and will continue to say until the raiders get rid of Carr they will never win
Carr single handly lost the game agaist the giants

    1. Man, what the heck are you talking about? So, the article is about the horrible draft picks the team made in 2020, and you bring up Carr??? Unless Carr made these draft picks your comment is totally irrelevant to the topic and you’re simply taking a shot a Carr….

    2. for real……. he`s de problem????? so get rid and every things fine? I`m just a clueless euro guy, but even my 1 year old son can see, there are plenty of problems here, but carr isn`t!

I`m with the raiders till 2000 i think and carr seems to me as the only consistency in years.

Sometimes even as a raider fan, i would like to see Carr on another team just to proof all the haters wrong. what the team needs is a streak of consistency on every level inside and outside of the building.

In my opinion Carr is our chance to win, although all the stuff happening eevery year!!

      RAAAAIDDDERS

  2. That entire draft was filled with WTFs. Curious who made those choices as Mike kept saying “we got our guy” but Gruden was quiet.

  3. I can say this about the Raiders. There is enough blame to go around in yesterday’s loss to the giants. The offensive line can’t maintain a block. This caused the fumble in the end. Defense didn’t do enough to get off the field. And now, the offense doesn’t have a down field threat. Help is on the way. Offensive line has to do better. Our defense is not where we need to be right now with a let down after the bye week.

  4. Ruggs was brought in cuz Mark Davis wanted him to be the next cliff branch. Mayock would have taken Ceedee lamb.

  5. With havin so much content do you ever run into any problems of plagorism or copyright infringement? My site has a lot of exclusive content I’ve either authored myself or outsourced but it seems a lot of it is popping it up all over the web without my agreement. Do you know any ways to help reduce content from being stolen? I’d truly appreciate it.
