The Raiders running game has been historically bad through the first three games of the season and the team’s color commentator, Lincoln Kennedy, wants to see changes.
The change that Kennedy wants to see, though, isn’t what you might expect.
“I’m calling for changes,” Kennedy said on The Morning Grind podcast. “Simplify the run game [and] run it till they get it right.”
“Yeah, the boos are going to come out, you’re probably not going to score a whole lot of points or make a whole lot of people happy,” Kennedy continued. “But you know what, you’re going to send an attitude and that’s what I want to see out of this team. An attitude. An attitude that we are who we are, we don’t care what you think about us, and you know what…”
“Some of my most glorious days were just walking up to the line, we’re running right here, stop it. I want to see that out of the team. I want to see that type of attitude to be in our other team.”
Considering the team’s struggles to run the ball in the first three games, it would be a bold move by head coach Antonio Pierce to double down on the running game in week 4.
It will be hard for the Raiders running game to find a friendlier matchup than the Panthers and they managed only 41 rushing yards on designed runs against the Panthers.
What say you, Raider fans?
Stick with the run this week against the Browns or open up the passing game for Gardner Minshew?

I don’t understand this approach at all. What message are you sending by repeatedly doing something you’re bad at, and that other teams are daring you to do. It’s only the run game where you see this bizarre logic apply. Nobody would say, “Well, Anthony Richardson is struggling with his accuracy, but let’s have him throw it 50 times a game to send a message,” right? I normally like Lincoln but this team isn’t going to improve by will alone.
The run game WAS working last year. What changed? Oh yeah Luke Getsy is now the OC. 5 bucks he gets fired this season.
The problem is obvious it’s our leader Mr Davis. For some strange reason he acted like not retaining Josh Jacobs at running back was not that big of a deal. And acquiring Minshew as our QB, well we all know how that was going to end up. I am a raider for life, but this it’s hard to watch year after year. We’ve been rebuilding since 2004. And let’s not forget our last head coach!! It’s okay to admit it Mr Davis get somebody to get our team back on track.
Forget the running game. Start by throwing the ball to get the running game going.
Open up the passing game…spread the offense get your play makers in space.
The raiders are the most irrelevant franchise in professional sports, and they have been for some time now. It’s time to shut them down, and close the doors, and leave us with the memories of the awesome 70’s and 80’s teams.
Here are 5 things that will change the Raiders. #1 get a running qb. #2 see #1, #3 see #1, #4 see #1, #5 see #1.
Boy, do I remember those days. Stabler would break huddle, approach center and point left or right, saying “We’re running right at you. Stop us.”
They’d keep keep it up until they were finally stopped, then pass. By the time the fourth quarter began, their D-line was exhausted from all the pounding. The Steelers were the same way.
Open up the play book. Get a real OC. The play calling is vanilla at best and very predictable. It’s either a pass to Devantae or a run between the tackles when the defense is stacking the box. Cmon. Just my observation
Luke getsey is to predictable
They can fire all they want, but you can’t fire the biggest nut of all. Mark Davis, Trust me the next staff will be the one that Jon Gruden picks. He is the next head coach. Maybe that would work!
The Rai Dahs line SUCKS they protect and can’t create holes…how in world are you going to run behind those dead beets…
I totally agree with Lincoln, it’s not going get any better with Getzi as the OC.
Responsibility, accountability lies with the offensive coordinator, offensive line coaches and the linemen period!!!
If it continues to be a problem moving forward, then the chances of making the playoffs this year as a wildcard will not be good. According to my Int
el, there’s no need to panic.
Go Raiders!!!!
Listen neither raiders QB’s has been spectacular. But if you’re going with Minshew through the ball. If you’re going to run the ball use Aiden. The offensive calls have been so predictable. I thought that was the reason for a head coach change? Luke is not the type of offensive coordinator that the Raiders need in order to accomplish what Pierce has in mind. The jury is still out on Graham, since his tenure the defense hasn’t gotten any better.
PUT IN AOC12 AND LIVE UP TO BEING COMMITTED TO EXCELLENCE
Are you kidding… BRING BACK MIKE TICE…PROBLEM SOLVED…
MIKE TICE MIKE TICE MIKE TICE MIKE TICE
LEGEND AND A ANIMAL ….HE KNOWS HOW TO BUILD A FRONT LINE AND DOMINATE..
They need to go 2 back sets, gives you an extra blocker on passing downs and a quick check down when down fields covered. And ffs stop zone blocking it’s stupid
Go get Russell wilson out of Pittsburgh
Seems that we should have kept Josh Jacobs for our running game! Not sold on Zamir just yet.
The offensive line is in flux at this stage but I have to agree with Lincoln. Line up and play smash mouth football. This team is accommodating to 3 and outs to start the game anyway. So establish your attitude and when they put 8:in the box to shut the run game down, go over the top. They have speed on the outside and reliable hands for the chain moving tosses !!
I’ll buy that. I was saying that the run isn’t working so abort it. I felt like we were wasting plays with potential yardage, so why spend two downs getting nothing and constantly being in 3rd and long situations. But I seen progress today against the Browns. Although White coughed one up that hurt us he looked better overall. Patience is easier said than practiced.
