Report: Raiders Not Getting Many Calls on No. 1 Wide Receiver

If the Raiders are going to trade Jakobi Meyers, it’s going to have to happen in the next four days, and it’s starting to sound like it might not happen.

According to Sports Illustrated insider Albert Breer, the Raiders haven’t taken many calls on Meyers and there might be more to gain for GM John Spytek by letting Meyers leave in free agency.

“Jakobi Meyers’s name has been floating around for a while, but that’s another spot where the Raiders lack depth,” Breer reported on Friday. “There haven’t been many calls on him, either. With his deal up, he could bring more in a 2027 comp pick than a ’25 trade.”

As Breer pointed out, the compensatory pick system doesn’t award draft picks until the year after free agency, so the Raiders wouldn’t reap the benefit of letting Meyers leave in free agency until 2027.

Earlier in the week, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported the Raiders aren’t interested in anything less than a Day 2 draft pick for Meyers, and that would mean a third-round pick is the least they are interested in discussing for him.

“Teams I’ve talked to believe that Meyers has a decent chance to be dealt — possibly the best chance among available wide receivers,” Fowler reported on Wednesday.

“Las Vegas has received interest in the seven-year veteran, and my sense is the Raiders want a strong pick for Meyers. A swap of Day 3 picks won’t do at this stage,” Fowler continued. “Several teams are believed to be in the receiver market, most notably the Steelers and possibly the Broncos and Bills.”

“Meyers clearly wants out, and the Raiders are in a transitional phase. They just signed veteran Tyler Lockett, which could ease the loss of dealing Meyers. Pittsburgh is keeping tabs on this one but is prepared to be patient, too. If I had to predict a destination right now, I’d say the Steelers. Other teams seem to be looking for more of a vertical threat than a possession receiver. Meyers has 29 catches for 329 yards this season.”

One other interesting note came from NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo. He said Meyers has asked for a trade “multiple times” from the Raiders.

Meyers reaffirmed last week that he still wants to be traded, but with just 48 hours until the Raiders host the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, Meyers is still in Las Vegas, and it sounds like the Pittsburgh Steelers might be the only team still seriously interested in trading for him.

  1. Take the 4th and be done with it. Is he really gonna get a big salary in free agency? Doubt it

  2. Once again the new front office including Brady didn’t evaluate the situation correctly. This isn’t anything new to us in the Nation as we’ve seen it play out all year like this. Meyers was most valuable b4 the draft and we still possibly get a decent return during the draft but once they stupidly draft Bech in the 2nd the value went down and after Thorton and then the 6th rd D2 QB that they draft as a WR the value was almost depleted. Throw in the dumb signing of T.Lockett this week just pretty much demolished what if anything was left. At least Telesco didn’t do all of that when it came to DA last year.
