Report: Charles Woodson May Miss “Extensive” Amount Of Time

Charles Woodson dislocated his should on Sunday, but is reportedly “campaigning” to play this week against Baltimore. Nonetheless, it looks like a long shot that he’ll return any time soon. According to Fox Sports’ Senior NFL insider, Peter Schrager, the 38 year-old Woodson is likely to miss an “extensive” amount of time.

With the loss of Nate Allen, the Raiders now have two healthy safeties on the active roster – Larry Asante and Keenan Lambert. Asante played 57 snaps as Allen’s replacement on Sunday and Lambert played two (Woodson was injured late in the game).

It was reported yesterday, the Raiders plan to sign Taylor Mays today and start him immediately. If that’s the case, Sunday’s starting safeties (12) will have fewer career starts than the starting cornerbacks (16). The most experienced member of that group? DJ Hayden, with 11 career starts.
